Heya everyone,
I hope you enjoyed the last update. We're slowly closing the story, and there isn't much left until the main story is finished ! Let me share how I envision the next steps for the game.
The next update (0.9.9)
It will heavily focus on getting the whole story done. I will probably not do much outside of that, save for a few added bonus, QoL changes and others little things that I can fit. I really want to get this done, and done well, so I have all the leisure and the peace of mind to do the others things , knowing that this part of the game is done.
I have a few challenges here. I want to provide a short, but interesting last sequence. To be honest, one of my biggest bummer moment was that I didn't manage to provide a good "captured" sequence moment in the hospital, even though the context was interesting. So, I want to try this again, but this time I want to try something different than "run away from guards". I have a few designs ideas, and I now have to test it.
The other challenge is to tie up the story in a light and somewhat interesting way. Again, being honest, I think the story is a pretext for various situation here, and isn't really the core. So, I don't mind it being overly cliché or bland, but that doesn't mean it have to be bad.
Finally, I have to think about what to do post-end game. Do the world change? Is there an impact? This probably won't be done right now, but this is something I have to be thinking about. If you have some ideas, don't hesitate to voice it up !
The final major release (1.0.0)
We're finally getting there ! I'll begin working on it right after the 0.9.9, and the goal of this update will be to tie every loose end actually in the game, not creating any new content but rather finishing and polishing what's already here. of course, that will be the opportunity to make a good old bug fixing session on some old,smalls bugs. I have created a lot of sub-systems and small events that are in a "proof of concept" stage that I didn't really expanded because I'm always lacking time, and this will be a good point to prepare theses for expansion (for example, the whole NPC accident deal).
And after?
While the game will have it's main story finished, it will be far from done of course! My goal will be to provide additional content, expand existing ones. However, big features and complex sequences will probably be more scarce, as I will use the freed time to work on the next big thing. Working on the survey result, I already have begun brainstorming and prototyping some ideas on a very basic level, and I'm very eager to share theses as soon as this will get more fleshed out. But for now, this is a really small part of my time, as I don't want to work on two sides at once. So, this will have to wait a little bit, but I'm sure you can understand why. Working on two projects upfront is basically asking to get burned, and that's why I want to be certain that the current game is "stabilized" before really diving into the next.
So,while I'm usually laying plan for just the next update, I hope that give you some insights on how I want to work for the next few months ! This will be intense, but really worth it!
