Heya everyone,

So, I wanted to do a little post today to formally present the new area that I'm working on : Brookside Glade. Some of you might have decided to explore the in-building area in the current build, and I have glossed over it in a few recent posts, but I realized I never formally introduced it along with my take on this final area of the game.

So, as I've stated in some recents posts, I wanted to do an area somewhat different and try a more natural environnment. Urban areas are already well-developped in the game and I feel like something more rural was missing. Still, I firmly believe that what make the core of a game like that is interaction, so this area will feature a little town nested between woods, mountains and lake, that will be filled with life.

Some of you that stumbled upon this zone in the current build may have noticed that it is massive. To achieve a sense of scale and a feeling of being lost in nature, I tried to scale the area accordingly.  However, this is not a game where I can make you run for minutes going from point A to point B with nothing to do. So, while you'll be totally free to walk wherever you want, most point of interest will be available with a convenient fast-travel event. To be honest, I'm still not totally sure about this, but this feel like a good compromise. Don't hesitate to voice your thought on this if you feel I'm wrong.

From a narrative standpoint, this area will act as the first, biggest part of the end-game.  It's, in a sense, a good chunck of the "final" level. I wanted to do something a bit different here too, part of it being because the current game is not fitted for massive, maze like interior like the hospital, part of it because I thought it would be very interesting to subvert expectation by having a natural, somewhat seemingly soothing area to close up the game.

Of course, that doesn't mean there won't be mysteries to unveil...There's a tick fog in theses woods that won't let you pass easily.

And the town will be the opportunity to have another area at hand where I could build some interesting things. For example,  I think it would be quite fun to be able to change a somewhat abandonned building into a nursery, so the girls that stay with you at your house can have a bigger place to play. Friends from the padded underwears club could be also be able to visit. That's just some wild ideas, but that's the feeling.

That's it for now ! I'm gonna continue to work on building the area and integrating NPCs/events to it.

See you next time!

Maybe for the fast travel you could have it set to discovering both ends first, if you are able to manually run there? Alongside maybe making it look like an abandoned tunnel that would have nothing in it if you ran through it (the fast travel, that is)? Just some possibilities uwu
