You’ll have to see for yourself later on in the arc to see why it’s easily my favorite arc in anime!

Gon & Killua have no idea what they’re getting themselves into.

I have to say, on the one hand, I kinda understand being disappointed at not seeing Kite's fight with Pitou but on the other hand, you have to understand that the entire point was to show how much of a threat this new villain is. Also, I can't relate to what Carlie said about the boys' respect for Kite and whether or not it made sense. Of COURSE they're going to respect a dude trained by Gon's father and was the strongest person they've met until Pitou. That makes complete sense in my book. That said, I DO agree with Carlie when it comes to Gon's emotional outburst being completely in character. It's supposed to be frustrating. Sure, Gon was listening to Kite when everything was chill and a complete psychopath nen-user was attacking him... That's easy. But Gon cannot stand seeing the people he cares for getting hurt... let alone a surrogate father figure. This completely makes sense and I'm surprised you're against this. I get the shock and the wish to see his fight but I think the way they handled it was better with hindsight. The shock is important. The fear is important. Carlie's ANGER and Ange's DISGUST are perhaps the MOST important emotions that the author was trying to convey.

Since C&A already said in the prior episodes that they're expecting Kite to die, I was worried that they'd expect it to happen in ep. 85 because of all the call for them to watch it along with 84. So I'm pleased to see that it still came as a surprise to them. I guess they really didn't expect it to happen this soon. Honestly I get Ange feeling that Kite as a character was wasted/killed off too soon. I was just thinking about this earlier, but his ability is very interesting. Obviously he put the condition that he doesn't get to choose his weapon and that the weapon he rolls won't go away until he uses it so that they'd become more powerful. But he may have put another condition on top of that. Notice that he didn't comment "bad roll" with number 3, and we don't really get a confirmation if it's a good roll or that it's so bad that it left him speechless. He could have put another condition that one of the nine weapons in his slot machine is completely useless and could even be a detriment to him in a fight to make the other weapons even more powerful. #3 may have been that and he was like "crap, how is my luck so bad?" 😅

Welcome to the Chimera Ant arc :)

Gon is a 12 yr old pure kid who was not raised by assassins and is stubborn. Seems pretty normal to me, haha. Love your reaction!

Even though Kite's death broke me when I saw it for the first time. I think Ange saying Kite had more to give makes it such an impactful death. Cause sometimes that's how life is. Life doesn't always give us a nice conclusion and that's what makes it hurt even more when we lose someone. I think this is why Togashi is such an amazing writer because sometimes he doesn't care about the satisfying conclusion and he goes for how life sometimes works out.
