Hey everyone!

EDIT: what do you guys think of mixing both options? Potentially making it subs only or blocking off the main portion of the screen during the more dull parts of the reactions where we are not saying anything?

This might turn into a pretty long post, but we wanted to address some future changes to our Patreon when it comes to our full length reactions. Nothing is set in stone just yet, but we'd really like to share our thoughts and then hopefully you guys can offer up some advice and opinions in the comments down below!

Essentially, we have been offering uncut reactions (anime visible on screen at all times) for a little while now. Although they have not been available for every series that we have covered, we have now uploaded quite a few of these videos to our Patreon. In short, these videos probably do NOT qualify under copyright fair use. Now without boring everyone with legal jargon, we understand that other creators offer this type of content, however we have slightly different laws to follow here in Australia, and we want to ensure the longevity of this channel. If our content were to ever come under fire, we would want to be sure that we have a leg to stand on, when it comes to defending the nature of our videos.

We'd love to find a really healthy medium for you guys, whilst also protecting the nature of our content. We do have a few ideas that we'd like to share:

-The first one being a style of video that you are all probably familiar with, and that is a watch-along reaction. This is where you are required to have your own copy of the media (which actually helps to support those who made these shows in the first place) and you sync up along side our subtitles. The issue with this type of video is that it does not allow for us to pause, and mobile phone users either cannot sync up with us, or find it very difficult to do so.

-The second option is offering an "Extended reaction" and this would essentially include all of our reactions/commentary through out the whole episode/movie, however, scenes will be cut. The length of these videos will vary depending on how much we say during an episode. The screen WILL be visible. We dont mind this idea because it essentially cuts out most of the silence. Think of it like our regular edited youtube videos, without the hassle of taking the show off the screen a lot and adding a heap of editing.

When we are not saying anything, and a scene goes on for an extended period of time, it cannot be constituted as fair use. It makes us rather uncomfortable to offer that sort of content here. So we are looking to change it up, using your feedback and suggestions! We do hope you understand that even though including the entire episode is very convenient, it is extremely risky for us. Sitting there for long periods of time without saying anything, does NOT constitute as fair use. These videos are meant to be reactions/reviews. So when we are not adhering to that, it would be disingenuous and very unfair to the creators of these shows.

You guys pay our bills and allow us to even have this sort of discussion, so we are extremely grateful for all of your support and we hope we can work with you on this. Please offer up any suggestions or thoughts down below. We'd very much appreciate this! ❤️

I prefer sync and watch along but also I think it's a shame that we cannot just watch your full uncut reaction with pauses and whatever legally, as long as we have legal access to the show ourselves. Some streaming service should create a software that lets you enter the link to someone's reaction and it will auto sync and overlay the reaction on top of their stream. Million $$$ idea, why hasn't this been done yet?

I also enjoy your reactions just as they are right now, with the shadowed screen, so im happy either way (:

Just showing the subtitles and blocking off the rest of the screen is probably the best compromise

More than pausing, I think the issue with watchalongs could be when you rewind a bit to catch a missed detail, which is important and I think most viewers like it when you do that, but it will be a bit of a hassle to re-sync back. I would suggest to keep the full reaction while occasionally blacking/removing the screen for few seconds instead of cutting the scenes (if and only if it is considered as fair use). Otherwise, I would understand any decision you take to be fair to the creators of the shows👍🏻

Well I need subs because mi inglés es muy malo, but i think a mix is a good idea.

Anything but timer reactions for me. Personally, syncing up videos is a nightmare but maybe that's just me. I'm partial to blocking out the main portion of the screen in dull moments.

I don't mind the subs only part or blocking it off when you're not saying anything, but I watch another reactor who does the 'sync up with your own copy' type reactions and i enjoy those a lot! so whichever is most convenient for you :]

Either way. but i would vote for watch-alongs because sometimes there are episodes where i don't want to miss a second of you're reactions and even if you are silent there is still alot of nonverbal communication going on, some episodes it would be a shame to cut anything, some i dont mind.

I prefer the full length reactions/watch along, so I'd say do the countdown timer like others are suggesting as well as blacking out the screen or usings subs.

i prefer watch-along. Sometimes you didn't say anything but your facial expressions says a lot about how you feel about the scenes, so i wish they don't get cut out :)
