yup, the English one is directly translated from the JPN one, or I guess so... I know a good amount of Japanese words and I can tell it's the same topic in both versions

dang, that last verse gets me every time. Captures the emotions of Ai's last scene in the first episode perfectly

it's the same singer,, the band name is Yoasobi, and they mostly released 2 version of their song, english and Japanese version... and yup, they were pretty big, and the vocalist is really good at speaking english too

yeah I'm quite impressed by her pronunciation. putting aside the comparison of the slight awkward rhymes compared between the Japanese and english version like Angie said, there's also a lot of wordplay in the Japanese lyrics that's kinda lost in translation for the English version especially for the last line of the song. the words "I love you" is a lot more rarer in Japanese culture and used in extremely special occasions. also, there's the wordplay between Ai's name and the Japanese phrase for "I love you". but still a really solid performance nonetheless as an official English version.

Ohh, sorry my bad, english is not my first language so it's just my habit when typing in english i tend to explain the context a bit more ( i used too do this in case i'm using wrong translation) Sorry about it

it's crazy how it's actually still sound the same even in english, some japanese reactors said that the translation isn't 100% correct but rather modified a bit so the pronounciation of the lyrics still sound the same

It is the same singer, she does English and Japanese versions of all her songs. There is a little bit of translation just so words match a bit better in English. Also you guys should react to the live version they did in their stadium tour they know how to put on a show.

If you're at all interested in hearing more great japanese songs that are translated and re-recorded by the original band but in english, the entire soundtrack to the film "Your Name" does this really well. The english version of that film has the same band RADWIMPS re-recording all their voiced tracks in english and they sound awesome
