the two biggest players from the Rise video are for sure Faker (with the book at the top of the mountain) and UZI - the guy using the finger arrow launcher thingy in the volcano (Chinese ADC - probably the best ADC to ever live. This role on the team in particular takes a LOT of mechanical skill, cause you're normally piloting high damage squishy champions like Jinx, so you have to be very good at positioning yourself so that your JUST in range to get your damage off but JUST out of range that nobody else can touch you or you die REALLY fast. Uzi was the first in a long line of VERY mechanically talented ADC's to come out of China, they take a lot of pride in that role in particular).

Carlie & Ange

We’ve heard the name Faker a few times from some friends! Apparently he’s a pretty big deal!!

Ross

also a note about the rise vidoe "plotline" you'll notice riot starting a theme in their worlds hype videos of Players being animated using Champion's weapons. So you'll see at the start the guy with the sword is supposed to be a midlaner from EU playing Yasuo, Uzi in the mountain is using Vayne's arrow launcher, Faker at the top of the mountain is piloting Ryze (the champion), and the main guy is a korean jungler who is seen using Kha'Zix's scythes, Sejuani's mace, and Jarvin IV's lance. So for the most part when watching worlds cinematics you're going to see the players "become" or gain the powers of champions rather than seeing the champion featured. This theme continues through most of the Worlds cinematics.

Ross

YES CARLIE - here's a link to the original choreographers doing Pop Stars, you'll find links to videos that break it down in the description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaAkvzLSg0s

Faker is the Lebron of league. Started when he was 17 and in a decade he's won worlds 3 times, won his domestic championship in Korea 5 times, and despite being considered "old" by most esports standards he just had a perfect season this spring and is somehow playing better than he ever has. For context Korea is the most dominant region in the world and Faker is a big reason why. Not just the best mid laner but factually the most accomplished and best player to ever play.

Carlie & Ange

Wow the guy has quite the impressive resume’…. And thats awesome that they animate them with the weapons! Love that touch. And thanks for the link! We’ll have a watch 😊

So 2017 opening ceremony and "Legends never die" is copyrighted? I thought that one should be safe as well...

MasterOfPuppets

That was great! 😃👍 Did you notice that you heard Rise before in another version? It was in the Ruined King trailer. You liked that version as well. 😉 I second skipping 2020 and watching it off camera. That really wasn`t Riot at their best. But please don`t skip Worlds 2017! ☝️„Legends never die“ is a great song and the MV is cool as well. It deserves being watched! It is a MV with actual champions (almost no pro-gamers) in it and you`ll get to know 2 new champs you will surely like.😉 I would also recommend to watch it BEFORE 2019 and 2021 (These are better for sure but this doesn`t make 2017 bad) to let the exitement RISE! You may get a little anxious about the copyrights in Worlds 2021 once you see it (can´t say more without spoiling), but I think there is no reason for it. I saw plenty reactions to the whole ceremony without pausing, editing or muting. There can`t be copyrights. Maybe someone in here has a more detailed knowledge about it. Greetings to little Vander! 😻

MasterOfPuppets

Maybe the full ceremony video (?), but "Legends never die" can`t be! To many reactions to it around. Please don`t skip it! ;-)

Rabbid Dawg

You mention the 'runes' during the Rise music vid - they're actually the pro team logos. If you listen closely the first couple of seconds, you can faintly hear the esports commentator talk about an upset. I assume it was for the previous year's world championship, but I could be wrong

LoL_Zealot

I will hope we can get 2017 later or at least Legends Never Die MV.

LoL_Zealot

fingers crossed for 2017 opening ceremony and Legends Never Die song...

Ill send u guys a video of the 10,000 people chilling at this years spring finals for LCS next month!

Mihai Sarbu

I am quite certain that the Rise song is about players fighting and struggling to rise through the League rankings and, when they finally reach their peak, the Worlds tournament awaits them. If you check the ending you will see that when the 'main character' got to the top the focus is moved to the new guys that are coming from behind and are at the begining of their ascension.

Awesome video as always, nice reaction! And yes, 2020 was the worst probably due to pandemic. It was supposed to take place in China. They tried until the very end but they had to move last minute, so they had one month to set up everything in Europe. Considering they'd been working that whole year from home etc it was still a nice show. Can't wait to see the other ceremonies!!! I know you had a lot of work on the other shows etc, I'm just a bit hyped to see the 2019 :p

Ross

So I agree that the worlds 2020 intro ceremony was pretty rough, especially in comparison. And it was especially disappointing because it was technically the 10 year anniversary of Worlds. BUT A fan made hype video was made that year that I still think speaks to the heart of the sport and EXPERTLY tells this history and narrative of professional league of legends so perfectly. If you do consider reacting to any content about pro league of legends PLEASE PLEASE include this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6tjMa3cLx0

No worries! We definitely will do 2017, we were just 99% confident 2018 wouldnt have copyright so we did this one first. But it sounds like 2017 will be fine!!

Carlie & Ange

Yeah fair enough. The circumstances weren’t great so its amazing they even got anything dont to be honest!

MasterOfPuppets

Wow! Very epic! Thanks for sharing. This comes from someone who isn't involved in E-sports at all! 👍

MasterOfPuppets

When it comes to Worlds 2021 I highly recommend two things: 1. Keep in mind this aired BEFORE Arcane started on Netflix. With having watched Arcane already you'll find so many little hints that those of us who watched Worlds before Arcane couldn't get a hand on. 2. In case you two will come to the conclusion they actually made a "good job" with this opening (this is possible 😉), please, please watch the "making of" straight after it. https://youtu.be/6EM1dwjQLWE It will give you a clue of what they REALLY did! This is definitly reaction material as well. I barely got my jaws closed... You won't regret it. Promised! 😉 I know it sometimes gets a little messy with all the suggestions, so I will send this again (if you don't mind) once you announce the Worlds 2021 reaction.

My guess for the K/DA vid is ange cosplaying as ahri dancing their choreo, let's go king content

MasterOfPuppets

OMG! 😲 😂 👍 My phone will stay in reach for sure. Can't wait even a second to long for this! 😆
