I don't understand why they're making Rhaneyra such a softie. where's the proud, impulsive woman that she is? in the books she told Aegon that she would "have his throne or his head". but even if you ignore the books, they're going against their own show character of Rhaenyra. they spent the whole of season 1 explaining that 1. she does what she wants, 2. she knows she's the queen and rightful heir

It feels like the showrunners are divided as to the direction they want the show to be going. Instead of Team Green vs Team Black, it's kinda becoming Women vs Men. I think that's why Rhaenyra has now become a goody two shoes and Rhaenys is advising her restraint even though Rhaenys herself has the biggest body count of the show so far lmao. Alicent has no control. It's a big theme of the episode, the men in Rhaenyra's council having a chuckle at her inaction, Alicent having no control because of the men around her, etc. It could also be that the showrunners are just trying to have more content as possible, because let's face it. 4 seasons for such a short book (300 or so pages), is really stretching it.
