The anime and the LA series differ in many aspects. which was also clear with only 8 episodes. for example Several characters were deleted that were not directly relevant to the story, such as: carrot, onion and pepper.

Johnny and Yosaku are actually part of the original story, so no filler here. The anime also fills out some parts of the manga, which sometimes are just implied and at other times it complements by introducing extra scenes. Johnny simply was left out of the LA.
