Is anyone else just having a rough time getting into this show? Like the animation is incredible, Sawano is the goat so the music is great…but i just dont care 😭😭😭 ppl who know whats coming, if i dont care now will anything drastically change coming up or is this what this show is and its just not for me?

I kinda get yah the story isn't really that compelling when you compare it to an anime like frieren which probably has better animation and music, so it falls short for me

@23:20 Good train of thought, Ange. I'm pretty sure it was Disney Animation Studios who pioneered and revolutionized that technique of 3D camera usage in 2D animation when they animated The Beauty and the Beast's ballroom dancing scene. That was the first time CGI and a 3D camera was used in combination with 2D drawings to create that moving camera style of cinematography. Anime studios like Kyoto Animation took that technique and refined it in their 2000s anime, especially in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The animation industry since have widely adopted this technique to great effect. --- There's a really good 15 minute YT video that explores the history behind this bit of animation technique if you're interested. Especially now that you two are seasoned anime viewers now, the video is a great insight and tribute to some of our favourite shows. Igris' armor is sick! It has a flow to it and a style all of its own. I love the model! It does have a "bird" feel to the silhouette and that color is stunning right alongside the feather on his helmet.
