So, my thinking with the relevance of the Melons episode, is I think it kinda reflects Pink diamond in relation to gem society. You have what I will call stage 1, where unfortunately I can't explain my thinking here as we STILL have some spoiler stuff involved for Future, but let's just say you can draw some parallels between the melons and Pink. This will go from there to prolly about when Pink was given Earth. You have Stage 2, when the melons are starting to develop their own society and not having conflict like they were told to, engaging in sacrifice, until something of a revelation occurs to them (from Steven, but still) to defend what is theirs and what is important to them, in which a part of them becomes this more warlike faction, entirely different from the others. I think you can parallel this with Pink developing Earth, not having conflict with the other diamonds, having an innocent view on the matter, doing what she was told, being somewhat ignorant in the sacrifice she was doing to Earth's life, and then her revelation where she started going to war against herself more or less, and towards the end becoming something different (Rose). Then you have stage 3, where both sides come to peace with one another and unify as a single, much more healthy entity, which I look at as basically Steven. And You see them creating something new they had never done before (the raft) as the last thing we see of them. And you guys make of that what you will, as there's a host of ways you can apply that to Steven lol. I also think there are parallels there between Era 1, 2, and 3 of gem society as well, but that's a bit more complex a connection, but I do think there's a line through all of them.
