I did not feel bad for Amethyst and don't think she deserved an apology from Peridot. Peridot clearly didn't understand what was going on, she almost feels like a neurodivergent person with how she takes things literally and has a hard time understanding and/or expressing emotions. Amethyst basically taught her that it's funny to talk shit about people, she laughed her ass off when Amethyst pointed out Garnet's and Steven's flaws and didn't care about Steven's feelings despite him standing right there. It was only when it was her turn that Amethyst realized it's not that funny, too bad. She used Peridot and did not take anyone's feelings into account as long as it amused her and then she acts like the victim? Steven should have told her to suck it up because she brought this on herself. Amethyst should have apologized to Peridot.

I feel bad for Amethyst even if she did goad Peridot and was taking advantage of Peridot having “culture shock”. The things Amethyst thought was funny was the way Peridot was describing what Amethyst and the others think are natural, innocuous things. Like Amethyst doesn’t think being a fusion is bad at all, she doesn’t think Pearl is a “Pearl” in the way Peridot does (and Pearl is literally a “Pearl”), and she herself likes feeding and expelling like Steven, even if Steven was uncomfortable. I think to her, she was finding the way Peridot was expressing those things and was illogically disliking just based on homegrown Homeworld prejudices to be funny, rightly or wrongly. But, then, Peridot called Amethyst “defective”, which was different. Had Peridot mentioned something about Amethyst that she felt was “normal”, then she probably would have taken it in stride and laughed.
