Hello, Patrons! Sorry for the delay on this post; my wifi pooped out on me last night while I was working on Patreon stuff to upload, so I’ll be blasting you all with a ton of things today. ^^;

Welcome to June’s chit-chat and recommendation post, a cozy  little space to update each other on what we’ve been doing and all the  things we’ve enjoyed during the month!

June was extremely busy for me behind the scenes (RIP my sleep schedule) so I have very little to offer in the way of recreational recs this month. I basically ate, slept, worked, took care of adult responsibilities and slept some more with very little time for fun in between. I hope you all had lots of fun for me!

That said, even though I don't have much to rec this mont I don’t want to leave you empty handed, so I come bearing something a little different instead.

Summer brings something very special every year: the Steam Summer Sale! (AKA the third most wonderful time of the year behind Halloween and Christmas.) So I thought it might be nice to throw together a short list of some games I’ve enjoyed over the past couple years. Their current sale prices are (in parentheses.)

Freebies!

(Clockwise from top left)

Khimera: Destroy All Monster Girls: (Free!) It's monster girl vs. monster girl in this cute, short platformer, a sort of lo-fi Shovel Knight/Shantae clone.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle: (Free!) Play as Jason, murder campers through sliding puzzle mechanics, and earn praise from the severed head of Pamela Voorhees.

Helltaker: (Free!) Solve puzzles! Collect a harem of demon girls! Feed them pancakes!

Card Hunter: (Free!) Part card game, part tactical board game; my favorite review of this one on Steam is "it's like dnd for people with no friends and/or crippling anxiety :D"

Lo-Fi Gems

The Caribbean Sail: ($3.74) A seafaring take on The Oregon Trail, complete with a fantasy toggle that introduces fantastical elements like sea monsters!

Pony Island: ($1.64) A puzzle game that takes place in a cursed arcade machine made by the devil himself.

Buddy Simulator: 1984: ($4.99) A cute, spooky little RPG about friendship (?) with multiple endings.

Lucius:Demake: ($0.74) In this stealth game send-up of The Omen, you’re an adorable antichrist tyke charged with murdering your entire household using anything and everything at your disposal.

Point ‘n Clicks:

There is No Game: Wrong Dimension ($11.04) One of the best games I played last year, this metafictional love letter to LucasArts-style point and click games is funny, clever and sweet af.

Hypnospace Outlaw: ($9.99) Wander, police and investigate a virtual world that parallels the early internet, cyberpunk dystopia style. There is no way to properly describe this game other than to experience it, but I will say: I cried.

Dropsy: A Point and Click Hugventure: ($1.99) Solve your neighborhood’s ills as Dropsy, a sweet, nonverbal circus clown with a secret. Fix problems! Make friends! Give hugs!

The Darkside Detective ($4.99) A fun, slightly meta episodic adventure with X-Files/Kolchak vibes.

Honestly, I could go on for tons of other categories (platformers! modern classics! rpgs! simulation games!) but then we'd be here all day. 😅

I hope this mini rec list helps make up for the fact that I have nothing else to suggest this month!

What's up with all of you? How was your June? Good, I hope!

I managed to complete my 1st month at this new job so that's a big step for me as I've been out of work for over 6 months. My mood has improved a lot more than a few months ago as I'm doing better with keeping in touch and hanging out with friends. I have however watch a few new seasons of shows that I have enjoyed. "Peaky Blinders" S6 was a bit slow for my taste but the final 2 episodes were really good in my opinion. Next show I watched was "The Umbrella Academy" S3 and I feel like it did better than S2, plus the ending was quite a twist and it leaves room for either a complete ending of the show or another season. I also watched the new iteration of "Money Heist" called "Money Heist: Korea", which was good but it could've been better if they had added in more episodes for their first season to flesh out more of the characters. Other than that I still will keep up with it just to see it through and hope that it can improve. For movies I've watched I haven't seen too many except "Into the Wild" which definitely made me rethink some things as it's a must watch movie. I almost forgot to mention S4 of "Stranger Things", that has to be one of their best seasons so far. I really haven't played any new games, just in between Destiny 2 and The Division 2. That's how my June looked like more or less.

Ah, June. That means highs of 110+ are here to stay for a while! Let's see, I finished gunsmithing classes and was successful in making the Dean's list again as well as the President's list, which I'm gonna be honest, I'd never heard of! I'm proud of myself and, for one of the few times in my life, I feel like I actually made my adoptive parents proud (I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying). I also made a nice dent in the story I've been writing; I'm up to 46 pages worth (double spaced, mind you). I've had some folks I know read through it and give feedback. None of them are professionals, but I trust them to be honest with me and tell me when my ideas suck! I didn't do a whole lot of reading aside from the first two chapters of Berserk released without direct involvement of the late Miura (they were great btw), however I wanted to recommend an excellent biography for those how like that sort of thing: The Guns of John Moses Browning by Nathan Gorenstein. I personally believe you don't have to be a firearms enthusiast to enjoy it since Mr. Browning was such an incredible man, finding his way through a fascinating period in American history. Plus, he's widely considered to be the most influential firearms designer in history, being the equivalent of Henry Ford and the Wright brothers. I wish I could be even a quarter as talented as he was! Alright, that's enough advocating for the GOAT, moving on! I have been on a bit of a survival game binge. My best friend and I played a ton of Ark Survival Evolved and, since it was on sale, have been playing The Forest. I watched Kenobi and to put it lightly, I was not a fan, however I did enjoy some bits. I made my sister watch Django Unchained, because that film is excellent, yet is still only my second favorite Tarantino film! Before closing, I want to address Vel's reply from last month. Thank you for your advice and wisdom in regards to learning to write! I intend to take it to heart and improve. I also really appreciated your mental image of me, aside from being Anakin Skywalker and I hope I can live up to it some day! Alright, I've taken up enough of y'all's time. I hope June treated the rest of you well and if not, I sincerely hope that July is your month! See ya at the end of the month, you cutie idiots!

Jay Ayy Why

Of all the months that have happened, June was definitely one of them. High highs, low lows, and a reminder that it is good to be well informed of what is going on in your country and around the world, it is equally important to know when to step away and stop "doom scrolling". Luckily the month ended on a high note for me mentally, so we take those. Work was very busy as expected and will likely only pick up more with the 4th of July coming up. Luckily for me, I managed to get that day off (since I usually get Mondays off anyway). I'd be lying if I said I didn't worry for the other guy who does the dough, since hes only been working with us for a few weeks. For being a beginner his dough is pretty good, but he doesn't quite have the speed yet. My main concerns are that he works way past when hes supposed to, but on the other hand I would rather not be called in, so I'm kinda just hoping and praying that things work out for him and me. Shows watched was more or less of a continuation of last month so nothing really new there. Kenobi was solid imo, I wouldn't say it's the next Mandalorian, but it is still a fine show especially the finale. Movie-wise I watched Top Gun Maverick and Lightyear. Top Gun was amazing and might be my favorite movie of the year. Lightyear was also really good. I must confess i actually just got out of the theater seeing it like an hour ago, and Im counting it as a June event even tho its July so sue me idk. I did actually read a bit about a thing called bionic reading which could be a game changer for me if the idea becomes popular enough. To put it simply, your brain reads faster than your eye. However if you bold the first few letters of a word your brain can sort of autocomplete said word and your eyes can move along to the next word at the same sort of speed as your brain. With this trick it is so much easier to not lose my place while reading new articles or even posts from fellow patrons. June has definitely been a month for gaming, I have picked up a solid selection of titles with maybe more on the way. So far from the steam sale I have bought Spiritfarer, Witch in the Woods, Neo Cab, My Time at Portia, Ace Combat 7, Anvil Saga, Sunless Sea (VanVel Recommendation™️), What the Golf, and Surviving Mars. I haven't tried all of them yet, but the ones I have played so far (Spiritfarer, Anvil Saga, What the Golf) are very good. Also a special mention to HoloCure, a free game based on the bullethell game Vampire Survivors except it's Hololive themed (for fellow vtuber enjoyers). I've mostly been watching it rather than playing but it looks fun. I think thats all I have to say for June, so remember to eat good food, play good games, have a good July, and I'll see ya when I see ya.

Unfortunately, my month seems to have been as busy as yours. A lot of things are still in the waiting stage. Tucker (my new pittie/border collie pup) is growing up strong and energetic, and will be ready to leave his sweet momma early in August. I'm also currently fostering my mom's dog (corgie/pit mix) Daisy as well as taking care of my own dog (cream colored Shiba) Yuka. Work is a minimum of 52 hours a week and if it weren't for my roommate and little brother giving me a hand, I would be drowning in unfinished house chores. That being said, my commute to work has provided me with an opportunity to continue listening to the Expanse Series on Audible (currently on Persepolis Rising), as well as a fun YouTube channel I recently found called Real Science. I also just discovered F is For Family and it is a delightfully inappropriate but hilarious look back at the world of yesteryear and all of the issues that existed then (many of which we are still depressingly dealing with) but with a bit of a more hopeful and upbeat theme (my take on the show anyway 🤷). Other than that, life goes on and i dream of the day when the workforce will again be less depleted and overtime goes back to being an occasional/seasonal thing. I hope the rest of you had a great month and a will have a great weekend, and for my fellow US folks, Happy 4th! Try not to blow yourselves up!🤞
