HAPPY HALLOWEEN, my beautiful Patrons.

It's time for your final CREATURES OF THE NIGHTS card, and you'd think it would be a no-brainer who'd be featured, right? JACKO THE HALLOWEENER, of course! But here's the thing about these characters... sometimes they have a mind of their own.

It's true, it just wouldn't be Halloween with JACKO making an appearance, but try as I might to summon MR. HALLOWEENER this year -- and believe me, I TRIED -- he just REFUSED to show up for any new artwork.

Characters can be strange that way. Sometimes they're practically banging down the door to be drawn, demanding attention like a diva demanding another mimosa, until they're satisfied and then depart again. And then there are times like this, when they go completely AWOL.

Believe me, I tried to summon JACKO for some fresh Halloween art. I really did! But he was nowhere to be found. Maybe he's camera shy after seeing how many (GAWD... SOOOOOO F**KING MANY) pumpkin-headed fellas have popped up online since his debut? (Though I'd like to think he's the original and best. 😉) Or maybe he's just exhausted from last year's marathon of appearances during SUMMERWEEN?

Who knows what goes on in the mind of a Halloweener? 🤷‍♂️

But here's the thing I've learned about these characters – they're muses, every one of them. They come and go as they please, whispering inspiration or leaving me staring blankly at the canvas. It's all part of the creative dance, I suppose.

And even though JACKO is taking a break from new art this year, he's still the king of Halloween in my book. So, you'll find him on your final card, reminding us all that some things are timeless, even if they need a little vacation now and then.

Honestly, it's been a strange f**kin' year all around, both personally, and with Class Comics and my artwork. I'm no longer surprised by any of the curveballs life throws. I'm just trying to stay in the game and swing at whatever comes my way.
