So good, I'm kind of ignorant but didn't MC learned the face changing arts in the cave before? How come he's learning it now? Or did the webtoon change it? I mainly started where the webtoon ended at chapter 26.

I looked back last Chapter 26 when Pyo-wol first used the face changing art. This was when he was about to infiltrate the Qingcheng sect. I think what he did back then was also to change his face, but rather than a technique (i.e changing facial muscles) he used makeup tools? The makeup tools was included in the items given to them by the Blood Phantom Group. So maybe by reading that booklet and studying it, he won’t rely on makeup anymore since he can change his muscles. This is also the reason why Pyo-wol back then didn’t change his appearance whenever he walked in the streets of Chengdu. He just used a scarf to cover his face. He only knows how to apply makeup and his makeup tools was limited to the one given to him by the Blood Shadow Group. So he can’t use it as much / maybe he ran out of it.

Another instance was in chapter 55. This was before he infiltrated the thunder gates. “Just by touching his face a little, his mood made a complete turn…” So even back then maybe Pyo-wol used makeup tools to alter his face. Pyo-wol only learned of changing his face from So Gyeoksan in the cave since So Gyeoksan was part of a troupe that’s involved in plays. So maybe Pyo-wol just learned acting + makeup. But not necessarily the actual technique of Face Changing Arts hence he was studying the principles again.
