They're called Loan Words. There's a lot of common Korean words that are pulled from English. They're just pronounced slightly differently, due to the nature of the Korean letters, but you can still understand what they are. 핸드폰 (hehn-deu-pohne) (hand phone or cell phone) 택시 (tehk-shi) (taxi) 컴퓨터 (keom-pyoo-teo) (computer) Some words have a Korean equivalent, and seem to be used interchangeably, (박스 (bak-seu) and 상자 (sang-ja) for the word, box, for example) and some, the loan word is so commonly used, that a lot of people can't remember the original Korean word. I think the ones who speak Korean definitely have an easier time of it with that Kung Kung Ta game. Because they are listening only to the Korean words being spoken, they can immediately tell when a word isn't quite right. We, as English speakers, have to watch the subtitles, and the English words aren't going to match up with the rules of the game at all. In order to get understand it better, you have to listen to the sounds of the word, which is hard to remember to do when your brain is trying to read subtitles at the same time, and even then they are going to be difficult to distinguish sometimes due to some korean vowels being very similar in sound like ㅐ and ㅔ, or single vs. Double consonants like ㅈ and ㅉ or ㄷ and ㄸ. Things that a trained Korean ear hears very clearly, but is just lost on us. I try and understand what I can, and when I can't, I just sit back and enjoy them being competitive and chaotic. 보라해 💜 💜 💜 Borahae
