Hey all!

Unfortunately, this post is not going to include any progress updates because frankly, there hasn't been any. Every day of last week was booked completely with stuff I needed to do for school, but it's wrapping up really soon now. I have one more official week of classes and then another week of getting grades done and submitted after which point, I'll be totally free! On that note, I also want to say: please don't feel guilty for unsubbing during this downtime period! I understand that $8 might be expensive for some folks and I really don't want people to feel obligated to continue paying for something that isn't making content. That being said, keep me on your watch list because it'd be really awesome to have you back once I get things up and going around here again!

One of the things that I HAVE actually had time for though is brainstorming. With Silkfang getting close to 1.0, I've been hammering out some rough ideas for next projects. Mechanically, what I'd like to focus on is small open worlds, and immersive sims. Ever since shelving DOAS 2, I've wanted to try an open world thing again, but within reason this time. Think like, a single small town. Chulip, an old, poorly received PS2 game has actually been a pretty intriguing inspiration on that front. Yes, the game's minutiae were pretty obtusely designed, but I think the core concept is great. Wander around a weird town full of crazy characters, and try to figure out how to get each one to kiss you. It's PERFECT.

Implementation is the biggest what-if though. RPG Maker MV would seriously struggle with the kind of framework that a game like Chulip would need to be built on top of, but if I'm moving to Unity, what's it gonna look like? 3D? 2D? Low-Fi 3D with pixel art dialogue busts? I dunno yet, but what I do know is that I'm super excited to get back to work really soon.

Seeya next week y'all!
