Just for your information, at least in physics, you do often have to pay to have your paper published. In the Olden Days, that made some sense, because typesetting mathematics is expensive, but nowadays, the journals require the authors to typeset their own papers, but still impose page charges. If you want your paper to be open access, you have to pay even more.
