I once edited a Wikipedia article. Minutes later I realized that what I had written was not just wrong but stupid. I went back to the page to back out my edit, and found that someone else had already fixed it. In less than five minutes.

That's not entirely fair. Sometimes alternative medicine works, just not as well as actual medicine. You can still use willow bark tea to help with pain...but taking a Tylenol will be way more effective.
