You are fine! Are you referring to the 8th movie? Or the additional scenes and 20 anniversary video? -Adison

fun fact about the tribute from district 7 getting naked in the elevator: Jena Malone stated that her stripping scene was filmed in a real hotel glass elevator that was not closed for production, and guests could see in. Even though her nudity wasn't shown onscreen, she did strip naked in front of Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson, and Jennifer Lawrence during filming. Although she was surprised the scene wasn't shot in a studio or soundstage, she went with the flow. Then, the moment she was nude, the doors opened to reveal a hotel employee carrying a coffee cup holder. He's shocked to see her standing there stark naked. Malone tried to stay in character, but she just started laughing.

The political system of Panem is definitely pulling from many things in world history like; Colonialism, Slavery, Dictatorships (You can look at the districts as plantations, or as colonies, or as countries under dictatorship where communication and media is suppressed), WWII and the Holocaust and atomic bombs. Even the dark side of Capitalism and its affects on the countries where consumer goods are made. The author of the books wove so many things together in her storytelling. One key thing the movies gloss over is that the Victors become PR slaves, but not just that, Snow rents them to people for entertainment and sexual favors. The younger and more attractive the Victor the worse it would be for them. If a Victor refuses he uses violence (killing your whole family like Joanna) mutilation (cutting peoples tongues out like Mags) and or just general oppression to keep them under his control. This is why Haymitch is an alcoholic. Senna represents the many artists throughout history who have inspired political movements and been persecuted for it.

Adison you should definitely apply for survivor, I feel like you might be good at it. Besides would meet the requirements of living completely off the land.

Those extra people with Effie are Katniss prep team. They are bigger characters in the books and they show them here with no introduction. They are more like set dressing here.

You were very close. Peeta painted Rue as a statement to the gamemakers, that they killed her. Making them see her as a little girl not a player in a horrible game. In the book they had it covered up because they didn't have time to clean it off. Katniss figured out they were trying to hide it and uncovered it. Peeta's statement led to Katniss's.

Mags really was “just” a mentor and mother figure to Finnick, lol. No romance. His speech was dedicated to Annie, the young woman Mags volunteered for! We only see her for that short scene in this movie. She’s Finnick’s fiancée and unfortunately mentally unwell because of the games traumatising her. She had to watch her District mate get decapitated if I remember. Also, Finnick’s dealing with “secrets” is alluding to him being forced into prostitution by the capitol, as many victors are (male and female). Many women therefore thought his speech could have been dedicated to them, that was his tactic to try and stop the games.

The girl who was randomly in the back of the scene with Peeta and Katniss right after they'd been reaped had her face covered to symbolize her station as a servant. In the capital, they rip out the tongues of the servants; they're called avoxes.

Love this reaction!! What I will say is, anytime you think wtf is Katniss doing or judge her actions, which I get, just remember she’s meant to be a 17 year old girl whose now been through two traumatic hunger games. Never mind previously dealing with the sudden, traumatic death of her father in the mines, starvation and being solely responsible for her families survival. She makes some questionable choices at times but her emotions can cloud her judgement, she’s young and severely traumatised by all the violence!! Also, I really don’t care much for Gale. They were never in a relationship, never had anything romantic before the games and were just friends who hunted while he had many a girl in district 12. Suddenly, he’s interested when she’s off in the games, it’s like?? I don’t think Katniss really sees him like that, she just cares about him and wants to make him happy but in reality, she’s traumatised, doesn’t know what she wants and is only thinking of her survival most of the time. Apart from this movie, where she put Peeta’s life over hers.

They explain it better in the book (as usual) but that hand sign is specific to District 12 as a goodbye/solidarity. For them to show it in District 11 means Katniss and her inadvertent “rebellion” is moving through the Districts which is what Snow is trying to squelch.

New subscriber here, Love your reactions! To me Mags kissing Finnick before walking into the mist was her thinking before I die, I want to kiss a handsome young man one last time. The opportunity was there and so she took it.
