Professor Bianca's Breeding Research Experiment 3: Gestation of Pokémon #501 - Oshawott Adult Male Samurott claim their mates through a vicious contest of swordplay against other Males vying for Females. After securing a mate, Samurott will only engage in breeding when propositioned by their mates, and will direct them through a special Mating Ritual. The Samurott will take their mate to the nearest large body of water, whether that be a Lake or the Ocean, and walk them into the water. Beneath the water's surface, the Samurott will begin intercourse with his mate, swirling together in the water in a dance-like series of motions. Once the Samurott has sufficiently prepared, he will ejaculate into his mate's womb, filling it with a semi-viscous discharge of reproductive fluids. Once insemination is assured, the Samurott will fiercely defend and chaperone his mate for the duration of her pregnancy. Oshawott, like with many Water Type Pregnancies, will cause the Amniotic Sac to fill with more Water and Fluids than that of a typical pregnancy, resulting in a slightly bigger and more "bouncy" belly. Bathing and Swimming are likely to become daily activities for an expecting Oshawott Mother, as keeping the surface of the her belly damp helps promote the unborn Oshawott's swimming capabilities. Waterfalls are the premier location for an Oshawott Mother to frequent, as upon laying her belly underneath the cascade, the sensation of water trickling down the belly's surface will help reduce the Oshawott's sensitivity to Water Pressure. Near the end of the Gestation Cycle, the Samurott Father will take his mate to a location with a large quantity of Seashells. The pair will trawl the area for a special Seashell that will be bestowed upon their child once they are born. Addendum to Experiment 3 It is strongly encouraged for breeders carrying Oshawott Egg(s) to deliver via Waterbirth. The water will cushion the belly and dampen the pain caused by contractions during labor. Water will also assist in the birthing process by flowing into the birth canal and forming a lubricant after coming into contact with enzymes on the surface of the Egg(s). Furthermore, the attending Samurott father will support and carry their mate aloft during labor, should the body of water be deep enough. End addendum.
