I'm VERY glad Nerdy has reached this point. THIS was the point that sold me in 2003 anime (slightly different setup cuz of changes from manga). I also agree with Clarooooos. I did a re-binge of 2003 FMA and think that series did a good job finishing out a alternate story (and one that I mostly enjoyed at the time, especially not knowing the manga) and not choosing to do the year and a half of filler episodes.

You are both half right on the glove, the circle and the spark are both needed for him to create flames on command. Lust fight he had Havoc's lighter and carved the circle into his hand (which you can see scarred on the back of his hand)
