That is correct! At the NBL it was preferred to keep the Astronauts talking while they conducted the mock EVA. It kept their breathing more controlled and helped them stay focused on each task. In the case of the show Naomi was just trying to avoid a fight, verbal and physical, which wouldn't help in multiple ways.

Time to start up the episode

Glad to see you're enjoying the show! You guys are doing great and asking all good questions for what they've shown you. You were curious about the spiral pour. It's the Coriolis effect. Ceres is a hollowed out dwarf planet, and people live inside it. It gets its artificial gravity by spinning, and the closer you are to the center of spin, the liquid will pour out that way following the rotation. That's the level of detail these people are putting into the show. Also OPA = Outer Planets Alliance. Not a spoiler; it is a loose conglomeration of various political factions spread through stations, asteriods and moons, with varying levels of willingness to commit violence. The only thing uniting them is the support for Belter's rights.

Oh boy...just brace yourselves because next episode gets pretty tense and #4 is going to be a ride!

As far as giving up I did the same thing originally. End up coming across a GIF from something that occurs in Episode 4 years later. Sparked my curiosity so I tracked down the show only to realize after some time that it was the same show I rejected years ago. Now the show is my ALL TIME FAVORITE of anything I've ever watched as far as tv shows! Glad to see that you two are already enjoying it and want to see where things are going versus what I originally did! Looking forward to next week with you two!

BTW in the world of the Expanse there are two types of "simulated gravity" both are based in real world physics. 1 - Spin Gravity Used in space stations and on smaller asteroids acceleration due to the Centripetal force makes things SORTA behave like they do on a planet, but the Coriolis effect will make dropped objects(including poured liquids) behave in ways that look strange to us depending on the direction of rotation. 2 - Acceleration Gravity On ships, any time they're running the drive to accelerate the ship everything aboard gets pushed to the back in a way that is far more like planetary gravity. This means that the ship's drive is always located at the ship's "bottom" from the point of view of the crew. The drives in the expanse are usually run continuously for almost the entire trip accelerating for the first half and then decelerating for the second half. Transit times are mostly set by how many Gs the crew lives in for the trip. If the drive gets shut down for any reason you wind up in zero G though.

This show is off the charts on the ‘rewatchability’ scale. Two-time rewatch minimum. Your reactions are the fifth time I’ve watched the show, and it just gets better each time. Also read the books, later. (If you are in the tiny minority of young people who read books.)

Talking doesn't really do anything air supply wise. Elevated heart and respiration from getting worked up would do more which is what Naomi was trying to avoid. OPA stands for Outer Planets Alliance. The G forces usually experienced during a rocket launch is about 3G so about twice what you feel on a roller coaster. Good questions!

They are in that minority. They have a book club stream on Fridays. Second most entertaining content they make after the Nerdy Morning Show stream on Mondays.

I commented on the Youtube vid about how much this show still sticks with me. Then thought I should directly support so here I am!

We do! We have a book club show we do on Fridays, right now working through the Wheel Of Time!

Most of us young people have gone digital or only have time for audio books. There's too much to watch and play these days.

The answer with anything anatomical is that it differs from person to person. From a statistical average perspective however, talking has two effects. The first is that outside of projecting your voice or speaking quickly, a normal paced conversation would reduce air consumption as people breath less frequently while actively talking and take shallower breaths so that conversation can continue to flow naturally. The act of talking itself does not cause you to breath deeper or more often, but the opposite. People tend to fill their lungs more fully while being silent. The second average effect is that talking consumes more energy within the body as you are using additional muscles and people tend to move their body for non-verbal communication sub-consciously.
