Val saying "Step away from the window" was Vel asking Sinta to stop her work long enough to talk to her girlfriend. She didn't. The Imperial spy she kills is my favourite part. He's so obvious because he doesn't see ordinary people as worthy of notice. He's openly just watching Cassian's house and people are walking past, seeing him and noticing him. Sinta makes him in minutes, and he never understands who she is despite them having conversations. The little moment of her pretending to be afraid of him, backing off, backing away and him following her, so sure of his authority and power of fear... except she was just luring him into a dark room where she stabs him. His arrogance and certainty of his superiority allowed his opponent to fool him and murder him. Emprie vs Rebels in a microcosm. Has anyone just been stabbed, like with a knife, in Star Wars before?
