The EMT was going to steal it and sell it. Lucy wasn't going to get anything if the EMT took it. I hope you react to the rest of them. I think you should watch atleast one more episode before deciding whether or not to continue. The first 2 episodes were mostly introducing you to the world of Cyberpunk if you hadn't already played the game. The overall story arc of the season doesn't really start until episode 3.

My only point is that Lucy could have taken him to the gang at literally any point, he would have happily followed, so there was no real need for the ruse of the whole day and her spending her hard earned money

Nice! I'm looking forward to it. Wasn't sure what to expect going into the show, but was pleasantly surprised. He might have followed her anyway, but he did also catch her trying to steal from him the first time they met so he was less likely to lower his guard and go into the braindance with her. Without him that distracted he could have run away with the sandevistan
