I think the anime is fallowing closer to the LN, as the manga has made a number deviations to the plot. The major one being the prince and the light magic girl. Apparently in the light novel, the prince was the one that tried to form a friendly connection with our girl, while the manga has the light magic girl trying to form a bond with our girl, though the prince and the other harem targets usually get in the way of that. It will be interesting seeing which way the anime will side with.
