Season 1 was just the beginning stretches exercises setting us up. Season 2 right from Episode 1 just takes off running without ever stopping with banger after banger episodes.

I also think its great we're finally seeing some of Yamada's insecurities and shortcomings that she herself is dealing with and needs to overcome as well. We spent all of Season 1 mostly in Ichikawa's head with his own insecurities, so its cool to be getting a greater balanced relationship. Just like Ichikawa said, they're both more alike than he initially realised. It helps sell Yamada as a human person too. Not just a waifu made for a self insert audience.
