Interesting Brexit discussion; this btl comment from a Guardian article sums the 52% up... Leave voters; 1. Disenfranchised former labour voters who perceive that they are being ignored left behind/are being ignored and left behind. 2. Extremist free-marketeers who believe in no state intervention or regulation of trade. 3. The frightened who have fallen for 30 plus years of project fear about johnny foreigner 4. People who believed that 350m a week would go to the NHS and immigration would go down. 5. Thick people. 6. Racists and xenophobes. 7. People who are genuinely concerned that the EU's economic policies lack coherence as evidenced by horrible rates of youth unemployment in parts of the continent. 8. People who thought it would teach the government a lesson and mistook Europe for domestic policy. 9. People who feel that their lives have been affected negatively by inward migration (often at quite a pace and concentrated in specific areas). 10. Plus any others you can reasonably think of.

Binging the episodes as well- what's the name of the song at the end?

Hi, I subscribed only recently and I've been binging the hell out of episodes. I love the series and I enjoyed this episode (finished last night). I'm not so sure on the Pyle-Lansdale link. In Graham Greene's bio (second volume, by Norman Sherry), he denies basing Pyle on Lansdale, called it a myth. He goes on to say (paraphrased) that he would never have made the mistake of choosing him to represent the danger of innocence. Lansdale himself commented on the likelihood of being the inspiration and didn't seem too sure one way or another. The only close link he could come up with was that both characters had dogs, but the inspiration for Pyle's dog is known, and it wasn't Lansdale's. Also, Greene began writing A Quiet American two years before Lansdale even turned up in Vietnam, although it is true that by the time he finished the final both he and Lansdale were aware of each other. At any rate, I don't think it detracts from your analysis of Lansdale at all, I just had some thoughts on the matter. I'd also like to add that reliving history through your contemporaneous perspectives is a wonderful added bonus. I'll actually be a bit sad when I finally catch up.
