Hi WarNerd, Have you heard of Malcolm Nance? He's a sniper/Arabist. He was interviewed on Reuters' War College podcast, and it's fucking insane to hear a guy in his echelon essentially quoting your analysis of IS chapter and verse. Everything, including how it's utterly pointless to talk about a "solution" before the history/culture/ideology/geography (he actually summarized it by closing with "the people") is entirely understood. Direct quote: "kinetics is the easy part." He fucking mentioned the Khwarjah's raid on the Kabba! Just for the novelty of it all, I'd check him out.

Wikipedia says modern thespians are named after Thespis of *Icaria*, not the city of Thespiae. Also: given that Byzantium was commonly called "Rome" and one of the Ottoman sultan titles was "Caesar of Rome", one might argue the Roman Empire - the parts that used to matter - lasted until 1922. Lastly, "Türk" in the Ottoman Empire was an insult - "hick" essentially; civilized culture was done in Persian, Arabic, or the European languages.
