A webtoon is like an online comicbook! drawn stories told in panels that you usual scroll down to read. Like manga or graphic novels they can be in any genre but are exclusivly online. They do release a bit differently, usually a new chapter a week like a TV show. They can be one and done stories like a novel or ongoing for years and years. They are most common in East Asisa and Korea and China especially produce and read a lot of webtoons. Korea watches a lot of anime and is starting to make more animation, but are obviously better known for(and really good at) live action Kdramas. So if a webtoon gets adapted to television it usually skips the animation phase and goes strait to Kdrama. Also web dramas are much more of a thing! they are also often adapted from webtoons. They are realeased soley online, just 10-20 minute episodes, but with decent production and budget. Not Kdrama level but better than what I would usualy think of for an American web show. Since the stories come from popular webtoons they are usually really good. The acting is usually great except when it is terrible. A lot of upcoming actors and directors start on webdramas trying to have a hit. It's pretty common for Kpop stars to act as well and many will start on web dramas first to prove they are genuinely interested. This way the webtoon fans and kpop fans help boost eachother up if all goes well they get turned into movies or kdramas and help the directors go more mainstream
