Finally! Im biased but sanjay leela bhansali literally makes the best looking movies in india. Thank you guys for this. 🙌 @Jen 😁

Daniel Prakash

OMG in the last 2 weeks, I've watched this movie so many times so I'm stoked to see a watchlong to this 😊

Jen

Y'all need to watch GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI next. Add Cortney as well, since she hasn't seen a single hindi movie 🥰

Jen

The actor who played Allauddin is Ranveer Singh and the lead actress is Deepika. They are both married to each other in real life. Steph you have seen them as leads in RamLeela (romeo juliet kinda tale) Ranveer needed psychiatric treatment after getting extremely involved in his role as Allauddin. He ate red meat during all 3 years of the shoot to immerse himself in the character. He was even bleeding badly during scenes and didn't realize it cuz of being deeply immersed in the character. He was taken to the hospital and had multiple stitches. Deepika's jewelry that she wore during the entire shoot including the dance numbers were like 30 kg. She had bruises all over, and along with the emotional burden she had to endure for the role, she also had to endure physical ones. Since this depicts history, a bunch of extremists groups like Shiv Sena, Karni Sena etc vandalized the expensive sets multiple times. Lots of intolerance took place for no reason, they even burned down a school that was playing Ghoomar in their school function. They even put out a price for the person who would behead the lead actress Deepika and bring her head to them, for "disrespecting" their queen. A LOT of effort was put in to this movie in every way by the team

Arrey Steph! Kings in those days always had multiple wives due to political alliances. It was normal.

Sharanya Misra Sharma

Oh and plz watch Lootera or Gully Boy next so you can admire the variety in Ranveer Singh's acting. :D

Sharanya Misra Sharma

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! "OH OKAY! so she's his MOMMM!" so cute, you guys. No , she's his first wife and it was normal then.

Anonymous

Yeah, after seeing her in multiple watchalongs - I think she's a bit thick.

Sharanya Misra Sharma

omg you guys (Steph & Andrew)...cracking me up with the "mumma/mom/momma" comments! lolol...it happens!

Sharanya Misra Sharma

@Kartavya Asthana No she's not! She's awesome and always bats for normal healthy people...she just has different cultural expectations. In the western historical fiction, kings have been expected to be more monogamous. The church didnt allow divorces and multiple marriages.

Please keep the latter review and discussion part of the watchalongs in here too. I have to wait for the YouTube 3 parts to come to watch those discussions. What’s the point of Patreon subscription then! If I’m to depend on YouTube cut versions.:(

gosh, I literally screamed at the screen trying to tell you guys that you guys got it wrong when you guys thought that was the mom when actually she was his first Wife! I was hoping till the end that at some point in the movie you guys would realize it and I would love to see your reaction to the fact that the good king cheated on his first wife too. and the consequence of his infidelity was what happened. the first wife is the one who was wronged the most in this movie

Still Bollywood Can't win an Oscar. Only tamil language or film technician and telugu language and music technician will win oscar. Not bollywood. haahahah. Not even sanjay leela bhansali able to touch oscars. That mean he is shitty director from oscar jury and westerm film director point of view.

This watchalong doesn't have a video of the actual movie itself. Is there a separate video for it? Is it for copyright reasons?

Avy_K

Definitely agree with this! The reviews are a must-watch for me and the wait is so hard :(

Steph just doesnt understand indian movies

Alisha Khan

Bro, she is still fairly new to this and this movie is not even close to what she is probably used to watching so no need to be hating. We love Steph and she understands movies and gives the best reactions.
