As an Aussie I was heartbroken by this loss lol but India played brilliantly and deserved the win 😊 Having been born in Australia, Thought I'd let you know that Australia as a cricket team have been so dominant especially for the last 2 decades, The success the Australian cricket team had was on another level, If you watched how the legendary team played especially during the 1996 to 2008 era, You would see why they were one of the most feared teams 😊 We used to dominate cricket as a country but after our legends retired we never really recovered or even found players of that level.

This match was epic because no famous or main players were present like kohli snd others and was a very young team to beat a mighty full fledged Australian side that's why and that place Gabba qs Australian fortress

I dont know why no one explained it to you guys why it is a big deal, so let me take a shot at it. Firstly India, Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand are all pretty much the same level in terms of the best teams. But in test cricket (the one played with white jerseys and lasts 5 days) the home team always has the advantage. Coming to the current situation india is playing a 4 series tests with Australia in Australia. In the 1st match india lost miserably to Australia and many senior players got injured and the captain kohli also dropped out of the series to be present for his daughters birth. The Australian crowd racially abused some of the indian players calling them brown dogs, etc.. The Australia captain and some players trash talked to the indian side which has lost half of its main team due to injuries in some matches. All the cricket gurus and analysts ruled out chances of india winning and some even predicted that india will lose all 4 matches. But the indian team filled with half rookies and half injured players still manages to win the series 2-1. That too in gabba stadium, which is a fortress for Australia. If i have to use a marvel analogy, imagine the avengers without thor, hulk, ironman, captain marvel and still able to beat a mighty opponent in an alien planet. I hope my explanation made sense. 😂

Adding to what others said. Winning a test series is considered prestigious especially if it is in international soil. While we have glorious wins in limited over(50 and 20) cricket, test is for puritans. Like shooting with film, to give you context. It needs strategy and patience. You are playing under foreign conditions continuosly for five days. The best bowlers might come at you till they have strength unlike limited overs. It is considered quality cricket and there has been criticism that the younger cricketing generation of India groomed by IPLs and whatnot, does not have the patience to stay put and win a test series. This win dismantled that misconception as it is a young Indian team with the absence of senior players with the exception of a few. So after all the sledging and bullying the win means a lot.

Its also tough to chase such a big total on the final day of a Test, and in the final few overs, the runs needed were close to the number of balls remaining, which is usually tough to accomplish since its a slower format of the game, but these young boys Pant and Sundar played the way you normally play the shorter format(ODI and T20) and comfortably chased down the target! As mentioned in the comments of the cricket poll you had, it would be better if you watch some videos to understand the rules of the game, that would help better appreciate and also feel the urgency and thrill towards the end of this match!
