I personally am not gonna take everything you said as what you would say if you were not emotional.. You connected with the characters so much that you are in full out frustration and I had the same thoughts and feelings.. I still think it is not the violence that upset you.. it is just the ending which none of us imagined and most of us won't be able to digest it right after watching the finale.. I would love to watch if you would put out a discussion some other day.. :)

You are absolutely correct about the sensationalism and grotesqueness...

How about respecting the choice they made about showing the violence. Yes they could have not shown that much gore but they chose to show. Its up to audience to watch it or not. India already has many movies/web series having good stories and everything you are talking about here on how it should have been. May be creators wanted to be creative with the violence this time.

Difficult to write about this immediately after watching. I watched this entire season with the both of you for the first time - thank you so much for the watchalong btw! I agree the violence left very little for the mind to think over which then detracted from the emotional impact of the show. For me, Bablu's death by Munna was not surprising. I thought he was a much better character than Guddhu so I am sad. But I feel his death HAD to happen to support character development in Guddhu. While the gore is unwarranted, it is somewhat realistic and the actions by certain characters demonstrates that justice does not exist in this world. This is the same IRL - bad things happen to good people and vice versa. The grandpa doing what he did makes sense - he is the OG don lol - expected him to be even more ruthless than his son / grandson. The Tripathis are even stronger than when the show started. Overall, a show characterized by a set of mostly interesting characters and a well-built world. The violence - realistic and brave but as an audience made me do little work with my imagination. I'll watch a Season 2 but I do hope the violence does not escalate!

He did defend the creators right to portray the violence anyway they like... He was just talking about his feelings regarding it.

WHY DON'T YOU INTERVIEW THE WRITER/DIRECTOR OF THE SHOW? IT WILL BE A NICE CONVERSATION

Thats what they are trying to show. They had to show the amount of shear violence because that actually happens in a lot of cities in the state kf Uttar Pradesh. And you have to see this is a new direction for Indian TV. Before it was all marriage and love and daughter in law mother in law shit. Now TV shows are getting bolder and more real. Ya feel me?

So I think I prematurely said you guys saw the "red wedding" in Episode 8. Thankfully I deleted before any of you read it. I think the reason why Bablu had to go was because he was too smart for Munna. His elimination gives a sort of equal footing to Munna. Perhaps Golu will become the brains of this when needed. Especially since Rati Shankar's son Sharad also doesn't seem dumb either. So we need some brains in the show.

****************************SPOILER ALERT************************************************ Their point is (and I agree with it) not that there should not be violence in the show. The point is that no one needs to see the brain or the intestines fall out of the body. Munna could shoot Bablu with his shotgun straight in the face, but the next camera edit could have gone to Guddu's and Golu's faces. Absolutely no reason to show the actual brain. That's all.

In other words, the AMOUNT of violence is not an issue, the BODY HORROR arising from that violence is the problem.
