Doctor Who is one of my favorite tv shows Ive watched all the episodes from the very beginning. And i am looking forward to seeing where they will continue to go and take the doctor

I agree pretty much all you said. During the Capaldi years, I felt my interest in the show waning. It's not that Capaldi isn't a great actor. And his Doctor was kind of a throwback to cranky doctors of the past. But the writing was bad in a lot of cases. While he was still the Doctor, I found myself hoping that the show would return more to the formula of the last three doctors. Sometimes I wondered if there would actually be another Doctor, because the show seemed to be struggling, both on screen and and in the ratings, or behind the scenes. If there was going to be another Doctor, the pressure was going to really be on them, because they could be the last Doctor. Now, as you suggest, that pressure is magnified because the next Doctor is a woman, and she's going to have to absolutely be spot-on on her performance. No matter what, there are going to be people that hate her regardless because she's a woman. On the other hand, there's going to be people that will love her, only because she's a woman. Neither seems right to me. I also feel like we can't really discuss this upcoming Doctor as we would past ones, because criticism is seen as being sexist. My default in the past was always to mourn the loss of the previous Doctor, and be kind of concerned about the new one. Generally, they'd win me over on the first episode or two, although with Capaldi it literally took me about three seasons. Now any concerns I raise about the new Doctor (even if they were the same I expressed for every previous Doctor I've been around for) is held against me. The end result is that I'm not even sure if I want to watch the new Doctor Who when it comes back. There won't be that chance to honestly talk about the show. without it turning into something political.
