20-man Teams Train for Boarding Ships (Patreon)
Content
My contacts (active duty officers) in the U.S. Navy has confirmed the Navy is combining Marine Corp squads with U.S. Sailors into 20-man Teams.
These teams are training on board a Wasp-class LHD ship, very likely the USS Bataan LHD-5.
These teams are already in the Persian Gulf/Indian Ocean theatre and will be providing security for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
This is a multi-domain operation with F-35s providing sensor coordination from drones. F-16s will provide security. Marines with sailors will insert uncontested via small boat (RHIB) outside the Strait and man defensive positions during the day long transit.
The White House has asked for this capability to be put in place, but has not authorized action yet.
Context: the training includes a contested boarding procedures, seen in these photos. The ships being protected are civilian and uncontested.
