Do you think that if we tried that sort of recovery today would it be more successful?

Arron, I'd love to see a Sub Brief on Project Azorian! I have two typos to let you know about. The 4th bullet on the Final Thoughts slide stated that "Undersea sensors played a big roll ...). 'Roll' should be 'role'. Also, the 7th bullet has Hughes' ship as the 'Glamor' Explorer (not Glomar).

Imo you should read John Cravens book, specifically when he talks about this. He mentions a lot of details that disprove at least parts of the missile theory. For example, the explosion took place at or near the surface as picked up by sosus lines. Worth a read and edit.

Howard Hughes was a patriot, hero, and amazing. His slight Asperger issue, manifested itself when he was attacked/bullied over the years in public media and snarky vagabond industrialist pseudo peers. He became more withdrawn, and fixated on certain things too long. Finally withdrawing to a recluse. Let’s not bully great spirits of the 21st century like Elon Musk. His contributions will continue to help mankind.

@aaron amick have you ever watched the sub movie (Phantom) its cool fiction story about what people speculated to happen aboard the k129 when it sank, obviously hollywood production but still a good watch!

Finally got around to watch this Brief as of 3/2. After watching the intro, oh boy I can not wait to see your response to the naysayers.

As a kid (1975) I saw the Glomar Explorer at anchor off the backside of Catalina Island. It was an impressive ship to see.
