I am going deep into my Russian sources about their newest, quietest and most secret ballistic missile submarine. This is a real challenge as I have to separate the facts from the propaganda. I have some first hand knowledge of their troubled missile testing program so I will add that to the sub brief.

Aw yeah! This is awesome! I was just thinking about this sub the other day, you reading my mind? lol :D

We're doing a bunch of modern boats. Interesting.

My Russian sucks (well, is non-existant) but the image above is of two different submarines. The lower is certainly the Borei but the upper one appears to be a Delta IV, perhaps added for comparison details. Or did I see this image wrong...

You're right. The bottom one doesn't have as much of a hump.

This is exactly the type of information I sift through. I think the drawings are just for reference and not meant to be exact.

Exactly, the image above is just a rough reference for the press releases. Quality images & drawings will come with the brief😉

The text to the right of the first picture mentions the Yury Dolgoruky sub as mother ship/class. Concerning the representation Tupolev (?) seems to proceed constantly: https://www.naval-technology.com/projects/ssbn-yury-dolgoruky-russia/

I would say the "public" information is intended to be misleading. This one is way obvious as its clearly a Delta IV. Tupolev may be referring to an "upgrade" to keep her active after the Typhoons were mothballed. In the US we sometimes classify "upgrades" when they are actually new aircraft...such as E-2D, AH-1Y/Z, etc.

The upper left image is nowhere near either Borei or Delta IV or any other Russian submarine for that matter. It looks more like a drawing of a bathtub toy sub.

Didn't realize the first one was laid down in '97 Damn those years were nighmarish, I remember we would come visit my grandparent every summer and up to 2004 it was "interesting" situation in Russia. I guess as with Yasen there will be some major differences between Yuri Dolgolukij and Aleksandr Nevskij
