Sub Brief Project 941 Akula is called Typhoon by the west.

This is long.  Take breaks.  Some of you know how a Nuc Sub reactor works, please do not post how it it works.  I left part of it out because it applies to US boats.

Great presentation Captain Jive Turkey. One quick question: Much has been made of the fact that our Navy does not allow photos of reactors. In my own research I have found very few pictures of reactors, even in decommissioned/obsolete submarines. But you show one of a Typhoon’s reactor, rod assembly etc in this brief. I was surprised to see it. Does it concern you, especially since they still operate one of these? Thank you for the awesome content.

I found there is interesting information on the nuclear-powered civilian ship NS Savannah.

It is a great surprise that the Typhoon's reactor uses seawater as the secondary steam loop fluid. All reactors I have read details of use a closed loop of fresh water to drive the turbine, and heat is rejected from this water through a condenser into seawater.
