Dear Sweetheart,

I wanted to give you a heads up about a small change to the required tax on pledges that might be applicable for you. Patreon already adds sales tax/VAT/GST to pledges from patrons in most US states and several other countries—anywhere that’s required by law. They’re now required to start adding tax in a few new places: Canada (other than Quebec where Patreon already charges QST), Thailand, Florida, and Kansas.

If you live in one of those places, you should see a small amount of tax added to your pledge starting August 1st. I'm so sorry about this! I asked Patreon if they could deduct the tax from my end like I asked last time. But: "In the US, we are not legally allowed to include sales tax in the pricing. It must be broken out as a separate line item and added on top of the base price. In other regions, most of the time prices do include sales taxes, such as VAT in Europe which is normally included in any price shown. We are reviewing how we can update Patreon to accommodate tax customs in more regions, but this will take some time."

If you have questions, you should be able to find answers here. If you still have questions, the best place to get an answer is from Patreon’s customer support team, here. I really hope you'll stay! Of course, I understand if you want to delete or edit your pledge. Anything and everything is so welcome. Stay true to your wallet. I'm very grateful you were ever here.

Thank you for all of your support,
Tess
