Howdy, folks!  Time for an update!

- Dwayne Day 11 -  Time to get the pool cleaned, among other various things!  Let's see what the MC and Dwayne get up to today.

- There were a couple of issues with Richard's last update that have been fixed.  One was that we kinda forgot his Back/Arm hair on the Garage scene, so that's been added.  Then, there was some odd dialog that felt like we traveled backwards in time, and that's been handled too.

- Don't forget! There won't be another update until June 1st, as I'll be spending the entire month of May working on Spencer's Epilogue! What's in store for you there, you wonder?  I'm sure many of you have a good idea where things will go, and I'm really looking forward to writing it, so stay tuned for that!

- Thanks so much for the continued support with typos and other errors with the Google Docs page.   It helps tremendously!  Don't forget, you can post image  errors there too.  Please keep errors posted to the reports page and not in comments/messages to me~

- Don't forget, you can see my update schedule here!  It's updated through the end of the year, so you can see what's coming!

Thanks so much, everyone!  I always appreciate you and your comments and your support!

I cant wait for Spencer Epilogue Im 100% sure im gonna cry when its comes out 🥲

Lance Heyen

Can't wait to do a full replay of Spencer's route when the epilogue hits. In the meantime I will have to satisfy myself with whatever that silly monkey (is that speciesist?) is up to.

AxlAlecksAkra

The squeal of excitement I let out at it being Spencer's epilogue soon 😍💙 the bestest boy!

The Mysterious M3tav0X

Another month, another update for the Mary-Sue-squatch that screwed over Darius' final week. 😒 But hey, at least we're finally getting Spencer's epilogue! Getting more from one of EA's best characters is definitely something to look forward to.

dk999

I really don't understand what your problem is or why you're still here if all you're going to do is whine every time I make a Dwayne update. Care to explain how this route affected Darius too? I'm curious.

dk999

Bahaha, I don't think he'd have a problem with you calling him that!

Sam

Dont mind him Dwayne is really awesome character! The more update of him The more I love him! 🥰

Alex West

I love this update!!! Dwayne and his mouth...he had me in tears🤣🤣🤣

Mestev

Another enjoyable update though Leon snapping his thong put the thong song in my head and I hope we get to see what's in that calendar.

@WolfBite Interactive Why am I still here? Simple. First, because my feelings towards and around Dwayne don't reflect my feelings about Extracurricular Activities as a whole, nor my feelings about you as the creator, for that matter. For as long as I've known it, EA has - while not perfect - been one of the best VNs I've ever played, even to this day, despite whatever feelings I may voice about Dwayne. Second, because if anywhere affords even the smallest chance to be heard, it's here. Don't get me wrong; this website is genuinely trash for trying to have any sort of legitimate dialogue, but this site where I'm paying to have any sort of involvement provides more opportunity to be heard directly than anywhere else on the internet. But more than anything else, I'm still here because despite anything I feel or say about Dwayne, I still feel that you, Extracurricular Activities and all your other projects are as worth supporting now as they've ever been. I've been directly supporting you here for a fairly long time, now, and following EA for even longer than that; EA was one of the first VNs I ever picked up, in fact, and I've been keeping up with it since before any character saw the end of Week 2. I haven't been actively keeping up with EA all this time because I thought it was a waste of time. I haven't spent countless hours across more than 100 updates playing new content month after month because I had no other way to spend my time. I haven't spent all the money I've spent supporting you every month because I just had too much money and needed a hole to burn it I'm. I've done it all because you and the world you've created are absolutely worth it- because Extracurricular Activities and it's characters and their stories are absolutely WORTH IT. And NOTHING about Dwayne is of such consequence to justify to myself dropping EA or withdrawing my support, regardless of whatever personal feelings I've voiced about him. --- As for why I think Dwayne had an effect on Darius' route, though it's definitely a much longer discussion, it's also a fairly clear line of logic. First, on Darius' side, one need only compare Darius' final week to everything that comes before it, as well as those of the other routes. In such cases, one can clearly see a discrepancy between the overall execution of Darius' final week and the execution of most everything else in EA pre-Dwayne. Where effectively every other character's final week had been spent tying up lingering plot and sub-plot threads and realizing any events that had been getting build up, Darius' route just kinda stops after making up with his father- or rather, after his father goes into a coma. As soon as Darius got a call about his dad being hospitalized after a heart attack, nothing of any particular consequence or importance - to ANY storyline - really happens; Darius' dad going into a coma could be completely cut from the final week and it would hardly be noticable, if at all. Moreover, Darius' character stops visibly progressing, as do the dynamics between characters; something that hasn't been the case for any other character. Beyond that, every other character that isn't Darius, Eric or Darius' parents practically disappears from the plot, as we're just kinda left watching Darius act depressed and sad while repeating in different ways that he actually doesn't hate his dad - a detail that had already been made clear through the two days of Darius reconnecting with his father and fixing his parents' marriage. Further more, Darius' route is the only one for which you made it a point to tease and build up and promise and discuss - both in and out of game - several different plotlines and possible events that might occur, only to leave the majority of it entirely unfulfilled. - Spencer confessing to MC? Openly teased in Darius' route multiple times over the years; doesn't happen. - Taking nudes of Richard (if you encourage it)? Teased and built up in Darius' route; doesn't happen. - Darius taking MC to Dynamite Springs? Proven possible in Spencer's route and discussed by you as a possibility; doesn't happen. - Darius interactive scene? Promised by you that it would occur with the suggestion that it would most likely be on the final day; doesn't happen. Etc. Etc. Darius' route is the only one where these sort of issues apply to such a high degree; leading players to anticipate various occurrences and then forgoing most of them for an objectively less interesting, less engaging plotline. In fact, with how much you've demonstrated yourself capable of implementing in the span of 2 weeks, it becomes even less believable that so little of note would actually happen over Darius' last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. All this taken together, the apparent evidence would seem to suggest that SOMETHING was happening behind the scenes for at least half of Darius' final week. And to my mind, the very scale of Dwayne's sudden debut only 2 weeks after Darius' ending fits the bill perfectly. On his initial debut in Day 2, Dwayne came with a sizeable variety of expressions AND a full CG; considering how long it took for any of the actual main characters to get as many expressions after the art change - even and especially on updates without CGs - as well as the lack of CGs otherwise in the first 2 days, it frankly comes across as more than a little suspicious that a brand new random character would have so much right after Darius' route ended with so little. Not to mention that the prep work for Dwayne's surprise release (story, character design, etc.) had to come from somewhere, and with the prominent lack of any housekeeping updates or anything else to disguise such prep work, it stands to reason that it was being done at the same time as other characters' routes. All that not even mentioning how haphazard and incoherent Dwayne's first few days feel, like the basis for his character and personality was all rushed in some way. The first few days establish very little in the way of a consistent character fot Dwayne, either changing traits entirely - such as in the case of Dwayne retiring from teaching in the middle of a semester on day 4 - or presenting them as being far less consistent to his character as previously presented - i.e. Dwayne being presented as incredibly forgetful and scatterbrained (except when he isn't, such as while teaching) or being a bit on the shy and reserved side (except when he isn't and starts overtly trying to get with Eric). Put simply, Dwayne's personality and opening storyline all feels like a series of traits and details that all apply until they don't, moreso than the solid foundation every other character has at the start of their own routes. And for a character that was apparently significant enough to suddenly get a route at all to have such a rushed and haphazard air to them, it's not difficult to look back at Darius' ending with some suspicion. All things considered - and in the absence of another, more reasonable explanation - even if I can't definitely prove as much, the details above an make it difficult for me to believe that there's no connection here. That said, believe it or not, I certainly don't enjoy thinking and feeling things like this. If you genuinely have another reasonable explanation - one that ISN'T some variation of "I just felt like it" and can't be reasonably countered with questions about why you didn't speak transparently about the subject in the first place or otherwise adjust the update schedule to accommodate yourself - for why Darius' final week went the way it did leading up to Dwayne's release, by all means, I would genuinely love to hear it! I would want nothing more that to have a definitive explanation that completely and utterly puts this suspicion to bed once and for all. --- I'm not going to pretend that I've handled my feelings over Dwayne or my suspicious regarding some connection between his release and the way Darius' route ended in a perfectly mature or reasonable way. Because I haven't. I've bitched and moaned and complained in vague and unhelpful ways pretty much the entire time before now. I fully admit it; I have been a complete and utter bitter little shit over all this. And while I won't apologize for feeling negatively over it all or even for voicing as much, I can at least acknowledge that I should have tried to handle this not only better, but much sooner. I should have bitten the proverbial bullet sooner and actually tried to talk about this stuff closer to Dwayne's initial release. And truly, Dwayne in-and-of himself isn't even particularly noteworthy to me, outside of his inconsistent feeling and out-of-place appearance; had Darius' route not gone the way it did, I doubt that Dwayne would have even been worth mentioning for me. But that's just the thing: Darius' route ended with SO MUCH that had been built up and promised just being quietly left undone, if not outright ignored. The character that was my favorite romance option, whose ending I'd been anticipating for literal years, got what feels like the weakest sendoff in the game with the most wasted potential. And then, out of nowhere, a character that didn't even exist before he was revealed was suddenly and haphazardly being shoved into the game. And with him, Darius being just forgotten and left behind. All this with hardly any acknowledgement from the creator of the project and being executed in such a way that nobody who might have taken exception to any of it could reasonably voice their concerns before it was too late. You probably haven't even read this far; I doubt you were even expecting a response. I somehow doubt that I'll get an actual, equally thought-out response. But to be frank, that doesn't really matter; ultimately, this was the perfect opportunity to vent all the frustration I've felt over an this that had been building for so long. So for that, at least, I can honestly thank you, even if it wasn't your true intent. I'm under no delusion that my words here will have any meaningful impact on anything, assuming they get read at all. In fact, I imagine I'm being actively disregarded and forgotten about by this point, and that's fine. This isn't an invitation for strife or discourse. I don't demand or expect anyone to agree with me here or be swayed by my words. To any Dwayne fans who bothered to read this far, you're perfectly valid for liking him, not that anyone need my approval; I just don't, and the apparent association between him and Darius' ending hasn't helped. Maybe Darius might see some reworking on his final week in the future. Maybe Dwayne might get some fine tuning in his first week down the line. Probably they won't. And at this point, none of that actually matters. I've finally made my peace on the subject regardless of whether anyone agrees with anything I've said or not, and so I can hopefully just move on with my chronically-online dumpster-fire of a life.

Opening a dialog about it sooner instead of constantly griping without reason is a much better way to handle things, cause I sure hate sifting through a novel to try and understand the problem, and it's so much harder to touch on certain points. It bothered me that a longtime supporter was constantly acting like this without and rhyme or reason. I'm sorry you feel this way about Darius's final week, but Dwayne literally had nothing to do with it. It sucks even more, cause Darius's route is one of the ones I'm proudest of, and, despite how much I struggled to bring his route to an end, I was happy with how it turned out. You have no idea what kind of stress I went through during his final few days because I didn't know what to do. It was rough, and only a few friends know because I used them as sounding boards for ideas. Folks don't seem to understand I'm the only writer/programmer here, so it's tough sometimes. I can't always be the endless well of ideas, and after 240+ days of content by that point... well, it's tough without proper planning. I'm what one would call a "Pantser" with my writing, meaning I literally fly by the seat of my pants when I write. I don't plan stuff really well. All of the content I write is usually planned during the two weeks I write it beyond little notes I leave for myself at the end of previous updates. I might have a general idea for something, but I don't plan a lot (and it shows pretty badly at times!). You mentioned Dwayne's haphazard insertion, and this would be the answer to that. I had a general idea of what he was like and how I'd introduce him, and just went from there. You give me far too much credit for planning him out, because that's just not how I work (which is terrible and really shows at times, hah). To be perfectly honest, I just ran out of ideas and struggled with what I was doing while trying to get to Day 35 with Darius (same with Dozer's last few days). I feel like that camping trip was the peak, and I didn't know what to do after that. The last week of Darius was written while I was still working on Spencer, Chester and Dozer's routes even (and Richard too), so they would have had more of an impact than Dwayne ever did. I just ran out of ideas and didn't know what to do. Dwayne did have more assets on release than anyone else did, yeah, but keep in mind, I also didn't start working with CaptainGerBear for a couple of years after EA started. He didn't join till most routes were around Day 20+, meaning there's 100 days worth of content between 5 guys where I didn't have a consistent artist working for me. He spent a lot of time playing catch up, so the art budget and his time when into catching up AND doing work for me for new updates. We're still poking at art for the older days too, but Ger doesn't spend all of his time doing art for me. For Dwayne's first day, I was able to dump my usual art budget into getting a handful of expressions along with a CG. It's not that Dwayne got special treatment (it's no different than what I'm doing with Richard really), it's just that I have an actual artist I can depend on to get the work done. If I had Ger back when I started the other guys... Well, there'd be so much more art here. Sure, there are inconsistencies I need to address too, but a lot of the characters changed A LOT through the routes to where even they don't seem to fit their characters at time, especially when compared to early days. Kinda happens when a project goes on for... I guess close to 8 years now. I used to only do 500-600 line updates, and I'm consistently doing 1500-2000 lines now. It really depends on what ideas I have or how inspired I feel. I set a daily goal of 100 lines, and there are days when I struggle to push out 50, and some days I've seen me do 300-400. A lot has changed over the years and how my work has progressed, so there's a ton that needs to be looked over and fixed. I'm but a single person though, so it takes a lot of time, and I already dump a ton of time into what I do. There are things I legit forget about too. I've written somewhere in the nature of 200 days of content between 7 characters (I'm around 1.8 million words at this point even). I forget some plot points or details sometimes. I've even forgotten what day of the week it is before and not realize it till the update is completed (hence practice getting cancelled sometimes...). I legit forget or mess things up, haha. Some of the points you mention, I'd have hunt for them and see what's up. Some of them, well... I thought I explained, but maybe I didn't. For example, the Richard nudes... there -is- dialog for that in my script, and there will be a scene for it, but I decided at some point that it was only something that'll happen once Richard's route has been cleared by the player (so it'll be a while longer still). I'm linking certain events between routes, and it was something I decided kinda late in the game. I have talked about it with stuff like Chester and Dozer, but it's possible I didn't talk about it with Richard. The Darius interactive scene is a-huge- issue, I know. This is something that still bothers me, and my plan is to integrate it into his epilogue. What folks don't understand is that I tend to be limited in the amount of art I can get each update, and those interactive scenes tend to require a lot of work (notice how all the past ones were updated during housekeeping updates). So, I ended up opting to go for getting art of multiple scenes instead of just single scenes at some points. The other fellas, well, they all had interactive scenes before Ger came on, so filling in the art for housekeeping updates made that easier to handle. Darius just didn't get one during his route because I never felt there was a great spot to use it. That's just on me and opting for more images or other types, and, again, something that didn't have anything to do with Dwayne. It sucks you feel the way you do about it all, but really, Dwayne had literally -zero- impact on Darius's final days. I'm just bad at planning and ran dry on ideas.

dk999

Thanks, Mestev! I told Ger I want to see more in the calendar too x3

I wanna get to know Leon!!! 😍

LLVPandaSevron

I've waited so long to hear those words "Spencer's epilogue" and you won't know how much I've cried. Not as much since his proposal

jackyjack

Dwayne is no fun I am waiting for Spencer's epilogue

Wu Bear

You do such a great job with each character, it's mindblowing. Of course i like some characters more than others, but every one of them has several traits, that make me really like them. It's beyond my understanding, how you can come up with so many ideas and situations, mostly alone it seems. Thank you for so many tears, either from laughing or being touched. You are a real treasure dyne!

I need a gallery version of the game

AxlAlecksAkra

I noticed a bug with the quick time events on mobile, they weren't activating with the tap and ended up getting a failure on them.. I can't disappoint my tennis dog 😭

dk999

Thank you for that! I'm always happy to hear it~ I really try to make them all different somehow, and it can be trying sometimes to keep coming up with new ideas.

dk999

I forgot to ask, are the showing up with letters on them? I was wondering if maybe I build the mobile version without turning on mobile mode... x3

dk999

How so? They pledge a higher amount, so they get more features. It's all listed when you pledge.

AxlAlecksAkra

The letter prompt shows up but it doesn't react to any taps at all

jackyjack

I don't have any money please I need the gallery version of the game

Oh apparently I replied to the post, not to this comment on my comment The letter prompt shows up but it doesn't react to any taps at all
