Great Reaction. There's a lot of double meanings and themes you missed, but no one gets it all on the first listen. For instance, Sunshine is also a metaphor for hiphop. Lupe is in a class of his own, and your head will explode by the time you get through Tetsuo and Youth and DROGAS Wave. To give you an idea of how respected and feared Lupe is by his peers, years back, Mos Def challenged any MC to a big battle that could be done on PPV. Lupe instantly responded that he was down and dropped a few bars, which were "If Mos wanna battle, he can get a whiff of the wrath, And I'm behind all these bars don't need to tap Miller for some genuine drafts..." Which is also a Drake diss, referencing Drake's need for Quentin Miller as a ghostwriter. Mos Def backed down from the challenge and said he was only playing. To reiterate, Mos Def, one of the greatest MC's in history, is afraid of Lupe.

Yeah was bummed sunshine didn't click like that, it's pretty amazing that lupe''s actually talking about his relationship with the listener and dropping the 'relationship's just thirty minutes long' on the 30 minute mark in the album

ive never been a huge fan of lupe's beat selection but i know he does it for a reason and i respect the fuck outta him for it and his lyrical ability. i have a birthday wish of mobb deep for march please!

Also, Bob, the original leaked version of Food and Liquor is far superior, in my opinion. He couldn't clear a lot of the samples, unfortunately. You can find the whole album on youtube if you're interested. It's quite different and has some of Lupe's best songs ever.

Great reaction as always Bob. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Lupe is known for inconsistencies in his discography. There's records like Tetsuo & Youth and DROGAS WAVE that are heavily conceptual and give you a lot of food for thought, but there are records like Lasers and DROGAS Light that are trying to appeal to the pop music community a bit more that you may not be into as much. Just a heads up incase you're having trouble picking the next Lupe album to listen to. Keep up the good work

I love how much you talk about the imagery- the pictures Lupe paints with his lyrics. That's his biggest strength imo. It's also yet another confirmation to me that you will fuck with billy woods because he does it like no one else can.
