I did watch the tribute as well (not recorded). It was tough seeing Thundercat not smile, and then the long hug at the end. You can tell he was hurting.

I hope you react to Faces mixtape and Watching Movies with the Sound off eventually. Mac had a really stellar discography

Bob what'd you think of John Mayer's version of Small Worlds?

Psykopomp

My favorite part is at the end of Small Worlds.. Thundercat smiles and nods before Mac delivers the lines, "But the sun coming out now; Clouds start to move." It really did seem like he was finding a better place.

His last live performance was actually at a cafe in LA, there's some footage of it on YouTube. Still this was pretty close to it, and I agree that he does seem anxious or uncomfortable throughout the video. He wasn't always like that though, I think it would depend on his particular mood in the moment. I'm sure the small crowd wasn't helping, but he's had both massive and intimate crowds before and he usually looked confident on the stage in both scenarios most of the time. I've only seen him live once before, it was a smaller setting right in Oakland after Trump was elected and it was really eye opening for me. Here's a quick cover he did of a Stevie Wonder song: https://youtu.be/ZfS_MmAjvZg It's hard to link to a lot of his live performances without spoiling other albums for you, but this is a nice quick video he made for fun

Great vid Bob. When you were talking bout Taylor Swift I think you would like her album Folklore since you enjoy lyrics. On that album she switched to a more indie/singer-songwriter/folk sound and there are 3 songs on the album about a love triangle from each person’s perspective.

You've said so many times "I gotta listen to Drunk" from Thundercat :D do it next!

a week before Mac passed I was working the ticket booth at Arclight theaters. I was looking at my phone because it was a slow night and looked up as some feet stood in front of me and right there was Mac Miller. i was completely caught by surprise and then i suddenly realize standing next to him is Thundercat. They were seeing Mission: Impossible - Fallout together and I was able to tell both of them how much I loved this performance. They looked genuinely appreciative and said thank you and went to go watch the movie. This isn’t really a crazy story but every time i watch this tiny desk i just think about that moment. I couldn’t believe the news when it came out the next week. i miss him so much.

Bob, please don’t be done with the Mac miller, you must go through the rest, I promise you as someone with the same name it’s worth it

Hi Bob, when do you think you’ll get to A Tribe Called Quest? I love their music and I think you will too! All they’re albums are awesome so I think it’s best to start from the beginning and end at Thank u for ur service, for a group to get back together nearly 20 years after their last record and drop one of the best hip hop records of the decade like it’s nothing is a testament to the quality of ATCQ!

bobthepoppop

I'm gonna hit Circles soon just to complete 'the end' of his music. Then I'll go back at some point and check out the rest

It was pretty good. Different... not bad, just different. He mentioned how he was nervous, and I wonder how true that was

That little run that Thundercat does at the very end of What's the Use is SO good...
