Nina Preview and HS2 Character Update (Patreon)

Hey all, apparently the illustrious Hanmen has released an update to his next-gen shaders mod. (thank you B.A. for the heads up). It is now at version 3.25 at the time of writing, and it brings many improvements, most notably, the ability to correctly render in both dark and light conditions! In the past, the unreliability of Next-Gen shader 2 basically meant that I never used it.. but now, as you can see from the image below, it is becoming pretty hard to find any downsides to it, as the result is very close to the original, with added subsurface scattering for that supple, organic look.

On top of that, Hanmen has also released an updated eye shader that now works with vanilla and modded eye textures, and it looks very very good.

There are two downsides to note. Firstly, NGS3 still overpowers many details in the original face texture, especially for those with pre-applied makeup, and secondly, NGS3 is not free. It must be purchased for $10 on gumroad.

I believe that the vast majority of you who sub to my enthusiast tier for character cards and actually use the Next-gen cards would be interested in upgrading or have already done so. Therefore, starting this month, I will begin releasing character cards for NGS3, replacing the old "next-gen" cards. (This month's character Nina will be releasing with an NGS2 card in case you have not yet upgraded or do not plan to.) Next month, I will start the lengthy process of converting my old HS2 characters to NGS3 as well, and probably giving a few of them a much needed makeover while I'm at it.

Nina is a student who enjoys the outdoors and has a very vivid imagination. She often dozes off in class as she imagines her adventures as a resistance fighter in the AI rebellion!
