Like I say in the video, I don't know how I haven't reacted to this song yet. This song has been requested so many times, but for some reason I kept skipping it.

I hope you enjoy my reaction to Dope, let me know in the comments what you think this song is about!

Bhumika

Towards the end of the MV where Jungkook and Jimin switch off - the audio is actually switched. It you listen carefully, you can hear Jungkook's voice when Jimin is up and vice versa. I think they did it for the flow of the choreo, but army should correct me if I'm wrong. Where RM references numbers - he's not referencing sports. There's been a lot of dispair and hopelessness among young people about the life they might be living in South Korea. RM says "giving up on 3" which means giving up on dating, marriage and having kids. When he says given up on 5, he's talking about people who have given up on the previous 3 as well as employment and home ownership. RM is doing a play on words and joking by saying "I like the number 6, how about giving up on 6." It's similar commentary on how the older generations view younger generations - similar to Baepsae (Crowtit).

To add to this comment, I’d recommend checking out this video from DKDKTV! It explains the context of this particular lyric and deep dives into why this song + BTS’ early discography is so impactful to young Koreans.
