I stared at the massive hanging spider, for a moment I considered going widely around it, but I could feel my Hunter essence all but screaming at me. And looking around further, I noticed that the ground a few meter's in front of me became utterly covered in thick webbing that was somewhat hidden under leaves and other debris.

The spider used its webbing to make traps and/or some kind of detection system. Why couldn't my first monster be a slathering wolf or something? I fucking hated spiders...

So I looked to the side and saw that the webbing went all around in a pretty large area and I realized that this was just the edge of the spider's territory or hunting ground it had rigged up with its webbing. Then came the question of the day.

Do I attempt to kill the completely unknown spider to get past it. What if there are more out of sight? What do I even as a tool in which to kill the spider?

In the first or Sequence Nine of the Red Priest Pathway, yes indeed I had some superhuman strength and speed, but humans were typically physically weaker than monsters, as the monsters were bigger, had natural defenses and offenses, along with their own magical energy making their forms stronger.

But the Hunter beginning of the Pathway, had a major bonus in making the user a natural master of trap laying in order for the weaker to bring down something far larger and stronger than the user.

So looking around I noticed the tree's had springy vines growing around them so as I silently made my way away from the spider, I made a simple snapping trap that would use the flexible willow wood I ground down using a rock and bent into a taunt form to snap several sharpened rocks I smeared with the ground up remains of a plant I intrinsically knew to carry neurotoxins through my boosted survival senses.

Finally, I made myself a spear out of a fresh branch that had a bit of bend to it while still being rather hard so the wooden spiral point would be able to pierce into flesh without the spear exploding in half.

Then with some fiber, I got from a tree that had this weird peeling thin bark I tied together a bit of a sling and finally, I got a couple of large still hard nuts and a couple of rocks and I went back to where the spider was.

Beyond even the improved agility and hunting skills the Hunter segment gave me, I already had a bit of experience with a sling due to being really into hunting and trying out things like throwing axes and making a sling capable of throwing a rock at great speeds was always soo cool to me so I was able to hit within you know... Like three meters of the target, I threw the rock at with the slings assistance.

But when the spider itself was the size of a large horse only being able to land a thrown rock within a couple of meters of the target wasn't as much of an issue as the rock whizzed through the air and with a harsh wet snapping noise the rock I threw at extreme speed audibly pierced the flesh of spider's large bulbous backside making it hiss loudly and whirl around looking for what hit its backside.

I didn't wait for it to react look around and see me, I took off back to the traps I made over the course of only a few minutes and the spider easily noticed my running form and I heard its heavy weight slam to the ground and then the unholy sound of eight large legs skittering across the ground rang out as it began catching up to me quickly.

As I was running with a massive monster behind me, I surprisingly didn't feel fear. All I felt was a sort of belonging like something I had missed just slid into place and as I pulled a base slid under my traps I heard the spider hiss as it reared forward to peirce me with its front fang-like things but as it came closer it smashed into the trigger fiber's I set up. And with that three tightly wound branches each with three poisoned spears slammed downwards from above and the branches and their spears rammed into the spider's facial and main body point with a crunching noise as they pierced the spider's minor exoskeleton.

Then as the spider somehow screamed as it tried to back pedal and only hurting it more as the wooden spear's tore it apart, I took the spear I left here so I could run faster and after a moment of taking in the shining black spider's movements I dashed forward when it paused to adjust itself with a wet popping noise I rammed the three meter long wooden branches sharpened point into one of the spider's many eye's and I could feel as the eye gave way, I hit the cavity in the back and then with another cracking feeling I slid the spear deeper into the skull cavity of the spider.

'Where even is the brain of a spider?' My brain couldn't help but think as the spider literally jumped three meters into the air with such force that the ground cracked sending dust everywhere and the traps that pierced its body to tear violently within its body as most of the poisoned spears got broken within its form.

[Stray new found soul detected... Compensation was granted for late notice and dealing with a monster on arrival.] [Unique Skill, Yatagarasu Flame acquired due to overwhelming natural flames compatibility]

"The voice of the world?" I muttered as I held my chest and then I couldn't but groan as the pain built up in my chest and then with a cracking noise I could feel my ribs popping far less painfully as they should as a round circular form grew atop my chest and as the pain went away and I felt the calling of my so-called unique skill within myself, I realized what the skill did to me as I pulled up my shirt. "The eye of the Yatagarasu huh." I muttered looking at the bright eye-shaped gem in the center of my chest that seemingly smoldered with an inner flame.

But my introspection of myself now possibly being a walking nuke was cut short as the spider violently twitched and I instinctively raised my hand and excessively hot bright blue flames formed on my hand and I instinctively sent a stream of flames that washed over the spider making a shrieking noise as the exoskeleton of the spider cracked and popped with the massive heat.
