Fun fact, Lt. Commander Drake mentioned he's seen the Straw Hat Ship twice before because he and this Navy Base previously made cameos in Movie 4: Dead End Adventure, which would take place between Alabasta and Jaya. Since many early movies are impossible to find or not worth watching, Movie 4 is the first one worth recommending, and the only one you could watch at this point. Also "Movie 6: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island" is very popular and takes place before Water 7. Hope you react to them someday.

You probably know but G8 is 196-206, and is popular filler. Water 7 is a saga but technically you have to first watch a short canon arc (Long Ring Long Land) that is from 207-219. Many people don't recommend it or say to skip the parts padded with filler but I recommend watching it all. It's good stuff. Then some pure filler is 220-226. Towards the end some canon gets mixed in for some scenes, classic Toei. Water 7 arc-proper starts at 227. Appreciate G8 and Long Ring arcs while their levity lasts.
