Basically in the manga, the joint training arc (first half of S5) took place and then the My Villain Academia arc came right after. However in S5 of the anime, they chose to take a 2-3 episode arc from after MVA, and kinda put it in between the joint training arc and MVA. Really, they just shuffled things around for better playback on screen than they thought the original pacing would have. Plus, without spoiling anything, this way they can group the couple ‘happy, lower stakes’ arcs together and have it switch straight to all the darker and more intense stuff after. It’s definitely a choice everyone has had mixed feelings on, but I personally enjoyed it. There were a few confusing cuts and things out of place, but overall I think the tone and pacing kept up better this way

without giving too much away, soon we'll have a time skip back and see events that occur before/concurrent to the class battles. people were annoyed because in the manga the next Arc was before the class fights but they chose to switch it for the anime.

"You gotta be pissing my pants!!" I dunno how someone ELSE is gonna piss YOUR pants, but ok. ROFLMAO. Also as for things getting better. Id have to disagree this was imho the worst season of MHA. Without getting heavy into spoiler territory theres only one good fight in the whole season and even IT doesnt come close to any of the great fights from the seasons before it

The rest of the season "getting better" or not really depends on what you're watching the show for. If you're watching for hype shounen anime fight scenes, maybe not. If you're looking for increased understanding of characters, increased depth of characters, and character growth. Hell yes it's going to be amazing the rest of the season. To tie things up with a nice little bow here. I don't appreciate the show's creators moving around the timeline to better suit audience response. In fact, I think it did more harm than good personally, and some things started feeling so slow and drawn out I stopped watching before the last 3 episodes this season (have since watched them and am glad I did). However I do like how with the My Villain Academia arc you heard about and know happened in this season (clearly in the end, since we still haven't seen any glimpse of it as far as you're aware) they didn't shy too far from the dark story they told in the manga when it comes to several characters. In conclusion however. I just hope they don't try rewriting the timeline again, especially since from what I've heard and what everyone's been saying, The main arc (hopefully) of season 6 needs to be hype as hell, and they need to make sure it lives up to that hype

Also, the movies are set at about those points you mentioned. tbh, I like to consider both the second and third movie to have happened after S5 just cuz of a couple spoiler things I noticed (at least in second movie. idk about third yet cuz if it's out it's not where I usually see them released)
