the series has only been animated up to season 3 as of right now, but the manga is continuously being updated so hopefully there's plans for further animation!

The manga continues, and after season 3 I believe the entire main plot kicks off. All 3 seasons are introductions to the main cast (detective agency and port mafia as well as another organization and how they interact with each other) and explaining Yokohama and how the city is governed while cases of "gifted" people live in the city. There has not been news of a season 4, but Bungou stray dogs is still pretty popular in Japan, so hopefully, there is a season 4.

We Desperately NEED a season 4! Season 3 is not the end, Last anime season there was a chibi non-canon short 3min. anime of Bungo so... that gave me a lot of hope that Bungo Stray Dogs is still in the mix and not on the shelf for a next season.
