You can call the brother Tanizaki. Lets talk Rashomon, So in the original story the Rashomon is the gate that "guards" the city. The story revolves around a guy who is without a job contemplating resorting to thievery when he meets and old lady robbing the dead. She tells him she's also doing this to survive, but he concludes that since she's bad for stealing, then he can steal from her and not be bad. He promptly steals from her. (FYI the real Akutagawa overdosed at the age of 35! tragic!) I think the actual pronunciation is AK-ta-GA-wa but most people (including myself) just say A-ku-ta-GA-wa.

So, about Jun'ichirō Tanizaki, his novel is titled, Sasameyuki (細雪?), which means lightly falling snow and is also used in classical Japanese poetry. The image suggests falling cherry blossoms in early spring—a number of poets confess to confusing falling cherry blossoms with snow. Naomi is named after the antagonist of Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's novel, "Naomi". Where she is a beautiful young girl with many Western features including her name. She is the perfect example of a modern girl with little inhibitions and is very sexually aggressive. Naomi is extremely manipulative and manages to take control of her relationship with Jōji, beginning as a subordinate to becoming a dominatrix. I guess we can see some similarities!

yeah the "u" is often silent in Japanese, for example in Sasuke you don't say the U while for Naruto you say it. Don't know if there are rules to it, when you spell it or when you don't.
