not a spoiler to let you know that the characters you are meeting are named for real-life famous (classical) Japanese writers, their moves are named for a story that the writer has written. The "bubble" that comes in is supposed to be the type of paper writers would use back in the day to compose their books for publishing. There are a TON of these little nods to books and literary stuff in this show that is not explained ever, it's just for you to find and like if you are into Literature. :)

Not just the moves but personality too. The real Dazai Osamu tried to commit suicide several times and was famous for gloomy writing yet had a lot of humor

I am so happy it's finally here! BSD is one of my favorite animes because of all of the characters. Yes the characters are indeed drippy! Also, congrats on recognizing Kunikida's voice actor as Asahi! Since you mentioned the Miya twins so much, let me in on a secret! That is Atsumu's voice actor too! The ending is one of my favourite anime endings of all time. And just like the other comments, the character names are from actual writers and poets, and their powers are named after their literary works.

for sure! I mean the real Dazai eventually did succeed in commiting suicide which is so dark that the show treats it so funny... but also, yeah it suits his style of writing. This show inspired me to read a BUNCH of classical Japanese stories, and "No Longer Human" was one of my favorites!
