Levels are strange in Danmachi. 60% of all adventurers on Orario are level one and will never go beyond that level in their entire life. There are fewer than 30 level 5's in Orario, which isn't even 1% of all adventurers in the city, which should tell you are hard it is to reach. Aiz is one of the most supremely gifted adventurers in Orario's history, and it still took her 8 years to reach level 6. Even for a gifted prodigy, it can take 2 or 3 years to level up from 1 to 2, and only gets harder from there. (This is just exposition from the light novel that they don't really explain in the anime).
